Komfortblinker

Komfortblinker is the one thing I was keen to have... saw this resurrected post got on the interweb and two (!) days later it arrived.

Simple instructions...less simple to execute for my fat sausage fingers but it is all simple and as people say - plug and play

I wrestled with the cubby- it bowed to my perseverance; removed the ashtray for the ability to tickle the sod from underneath; left some DNA from skinned knuckles on the inners; got my daughter (she of slim fingers and long nails) to assist; got the job DONE.

I've had this fitted for quite a few Years. The only improvement (I.M.H.O.) would have been the ability to adjust the number of flashes ..... just three seems a bit short to me. There are a few clever people who COULD probably do this! On another site to which I contribute (SLK World), there's even a member who has made a complete device from scratch!

David I know it is more of a personal preference but I consider the 3 flashes perfect. It is afterall really only to give more warning for changing lane. For actual turns the normal clicked position of the indicator stalk is used.

Ha - this could open a can of worms potentially - but for me 3 flashes is too few for a lane change, I like to use two of those before even beginning the lane change as you can never be sure those around you have noticed just one - and at 70-75 mph this could be a problem! I also tend to execute the changes themselves slowly but deliberately, with the indicator on all the time, for the same reason.

For my lane-change style, I would need four or perhaps five flashes. Each to their own.

More than three just use the indicator normally. That way you can have as many flashes as you like.;)

So if it is possible to adjust the number of flashes, then everyone is happy ..... if you think that 3 is fine, then set it to that. I'd like it to be more, so I'd have the option to increase the number. As always, personal preference comes into something like this, but I can't see what's wrong with at least having the facility to be able to set it to what you prefer?

Have you got a link to the komfortblinker by any chance? Cheers Andy

Three flashes is perfect for exiting a roundabout. And my pet driving annoyance is drivers who don't do this.
Mac.
That’s one of my (admittedly numerous) pet hates, it seems as if many drivers don't know where they are going hence can't inform you with indicators. ? In saying this, I rarely indicate when returning to the left lane after an overtake (yes, I know).

well guts 3 flashes is the STD on all modern cars. If you require more than 3 put your indicator on this what its designed for, for comfort not holding your stalk up or putting it on to constant.

Cheers Phil

As I've mentioned, I've seen that other individuals have built a device like this from scratch and incorporated a means to set the number of flashes. I'm going to do this and I'll see if the komfortblinker can itself be modified, internally. I'll see what the manufacturer has to say regarding this. I'm only talking about one or two flashes ...... hardly a big deal but I like to succeed in most things I do .......

More recent VAG cars you can alter the number of blinks in VCDS. Unfortunately the A2 computer predates this. BUT I do not know if you fit the Komfortblinker the computer either detects it or can be fooled into letting you make changes through VCDS. Probably not but if someone has the time to check and do adaptations they may discover something.

David, do let us know how you get on with this...

I’ve recently seen a YouTube video about this very thing VCDS long coding I think.

Bringing up an old thread but I would like to install this in my keeper, I've seen the link above for the Cartec one but does anyone have a UK supplier they could recommend please?
