Had the car up on the ramps at the weekend for a service and thermostat change, had a big puddle of gearbox oil sitting in the undertray, looks like it was coming from the shifter tower bottom bearing.. the circled bit in the pic. Pretty sure I smeared hylomar blue on the faces when I replaced the shifter tower, or maybe I shouldn't have done that.. does anyone know? couldn't find anything saying to use any sort of gasket or not at the time.
