Took the A2 to and then past 0 miles remaining on DIS yesterday, and lived to tell the tale. Took us 4 hours to get home due to awful traffic on both the A14 and then M6.
It had been such a long day, I didn't want to stop, so started to drive a little slower to save fuel. 18miles to go, DIS shows 20 miles remaining. Slowed down to 65mph to be save, however suddenly it dropped to 15 miles remaining.
Have to go past our house to get to fuel, so started to get a little concerned. At about 2 miles to go, DIS flicked to 0 miles remaining - scary moment, however she managed that extra 2 miles without any judders. Fill up cost £25.42 (approx 32.6 litres) - which is the most to date. I dont plan in doing this again.

Anybody else had any scary moments like this

Whenever I fill up the Passat, that's scary. Usually about £45 scary (you don't want to know my average MPG). Especially when the last 2 cars were and A2 and a Fiat Punto.

I've never let a car get as low as you did today. I'm possibly paraniod about the cr@p off the bottom of the tank getting sucked up and into the engine. Is this justified paranoia. Don't lie to me. I'll know. Just like all the others....................................

Don't drink drive! Not only is it socially unaceptable, it also harms A2's.
Was a 1.4SE petrol. http://www.audi-a2.co.uk/uk14.htm http://www.audi-a2.co.uk/safety.htm
New A2 on order - Ebony Black, Red Leather + many other options.

Had a similar moment in our smart. At 5 litres it starts to flash and then counts down in 0.5 litre intervals. Just after Barnsley it started flashing 5 litres, I had to get to Leeds - only about 30 miles - the car does in excess of 40 mpg at 70 mph. About 8 miles from home it started flashing '0' I had a dilemma. I'm in the south of Leeds at 6pm on a Sunday. I never use any of the junctions in the area so have no idea where the nearest petrol station is. Do I leave at the next junction and hunt around for a petrol station, or do I drive at 56 mph to where I know there is a station - about 6 miles away. I took the second option. On leaving the motorway I had two major junctions to negotiate - both with lights and both on red! I managed to reach the fuel station and squeezed 36 litres in a car with a 33 litre tank!! I'll never do it again and we always fill up before the 5 litres starts flashing!

Nearest I have been was 61.4 litres into a 62 litre tank on our Passat. I only start to worry when the warning light starts to flash up reminders.

The Smart must have a high capacity filler pipe - saw a merc last week that was dumping fuel out of the overflow on left hand bends so he had filled all the way to the top of the pipe as well.

Why are NEARLY all the A2s in Lichfield are silver ? ? ?

Well at least it is a good thing to know... my journey to work is 50 miles, so can never let the DIS show less than 50! Lowest I have done was 30 miles remaining!

I've had mine down to 0 albeit as I drove onto the filling station forecourt. Started off 15 miles from home with 15 miles on DIS, petrol station is on the way and it's where I have filled up from day one (full tank on delivery excepted. Showed 5 miles with a couple of miles to go, I was on the motorway doing 60 mph, short drive from motorway to petrol station still showed 5 and as I rolled onto the forecourt it showed 0. The system is quite precise because even when the fuel gauge hardly moves the DIS still shows 10-15 miles. Even from 0 I only got 39 litres in.

Mine usually shows either 50 or 55

same here. Usually around 50, however have seen 70 on it once. I guess its a volume indicator then? One gallon remaining maybe??

The reason I ask is because I routinely do 100km (62mi) after the bong (don't have DIS), and still cannot
squeeze more than 30 litres into the allegedly 34-litre tank (filling it to the brim).

I think you're right Kaine, mine beeped this morning and it showed 75 but it was down to 65 within

I would relax about going passed 0 miles on the DIS. I have a TDI and can get/have got another 50 miles past 0. Obviously, I don't recommend you do this on purpose but you can relax a bit more.

That might explain why I've never been able to get in more than 38 litres from empty, despite having the larger fuel tank.

Cheers,
