Lock cylinder issues

On my car the electronic locking works by remote but when the key is inserted in the drivers door it is a very tight fit and will not turn.
My suspicion is that the lock cylinder is damaged as neither of the remote control keys work but they both work flawlessly in the ignition.
Similarly there are no problems with the remote central locking.
Is it possible to take the lock cylinder out and rely on the electronic central locking until I get the cylinder seen to?
Also is it possible to get a pre-keyed cylinder or even a spare plastic key or similar from the vehicles VIN number or similar?

If the lock can be taken out I would take it to a locksmith in London rather than the dealer in Norway. Do I require any special tools to remove the cylinder?

Also I can remove it I can inspect and clean it more easily. It does not feel like it wants to turn at the moment and I am worried about breaking the key or the lock if I try to force it.

Any ideas would be helpful.

Hopefully I am nearing the end of issues with my A2 now. The brakes are working well again, the door strap is fixed, the windscreen is a work in progress... One day it will be perfect again... On the plus side it is great to drive and nice to have own a special car such as the A2 1.2Tdi.

Have you tired WD40 ???? spray this with the straw into the lock and see if that helps to free it off, as you don't tend to use the key in the lock it gets clogged up with much thus making it very stiff to use

The barrel part itself is in the end cap of the handle so to remove it would leave a hole and i'm not sure if you can operate the lock once its removed so would make your car not very sucure

A combination of the WD40 spray, using the thin extension tube to get right into the lock and 'working' the key back and forth will usually free off the lock mechanism. Use light pressure on the key and repeat the process over a few days if needed

What worked for me was a combination of WD40 and contact cleaner to shift the oily mess.
It is always bad with locks as you fear the ket will break! But with a couple of days of WD40 and some contact cleaner to flush the results all is working like new again.

That's great that you have got it sorted:) its amazing how useful "water displacement 40th attemp" is. I have always got a can to hand.
