Loosing coolant - 1.6 FSI

Hopefully somebody with schematics can help. The car appears to be loosing water from a sensor that clips into the upper large water pipe near the head. There is a flexible metal pipe connecting the side of the head with the inlet manifold and the sensor is just to the right of the flexible pipe. Vision is really restricted but there is some evidence os water around the sensor.

Question is, does the sensor just seal with a replaceable rubber washer or do I need a new sensor?

Thanks

Alex

if it is the temprature sensor you can change the rubber but the sensor isnt expensive either

As scott indicated, the sensor has an O.ring seal. I don't have a FSi but think the coolant temp sensor is the same part as used on the TDi
A pic of the sensor and seal is shown below

Temp senders

There are 2 temperature senders on the 1.6FSi BAD engine. Having replaced one to no avail I am about to replace the one located in the thermostat housing (4 pin Green)
Can anyone tell me what the sender on the Lower radiator hose does?

Is one respsible for feeding the ECU with temperature for fuel /air mix on startup and one for switching of main radiator fan? Or do they both feed the ECU and Cluster Gauge somehow ??

Pete

the one in the picture looks like the one i changed and that is the temprature sensore, but not sure ir they look the sam
