Got the car back today. I'll post a thread up with photos to assist other TDI owners consider if this is a job needing doing. At 122k miles of careful maintenance with the right oil there is a bit of wear on the tensioner. I'm pleased I had the work done for peace of mind. It'll not need doing again!!
Cost wise - it was 9 hours labour for the oil chain job and the timing belt plus ancillaries. I get a mates rate of 35 an hour so all in with parts at cost from TPS it will be around 450 ?

I did this at 175k on my 90 and to my shock they said it looked like it didn’t have any wear and may have been changed before. The 333k one I have I know for a fact this hasn’t been done...
