Lurching at speed

Hi all,

I have noticed in the last week my A2 lurching when I'm hitting around 40/50mph. Don't notice it driving around town, just on faster roads.

When I say lurching, I mean it feels like it's being buffeted by wind or that there's something heavy moving from side to side in the car.

When I put my foot down, it lurches right, when I take my foot of (to change gear for example) it will lurch left.

I suspect that it's something to do with the engine bushels, but was just wondering if anyone else had experienced anything similar and a general idea of potential cost.

Cheers,

Mark

I would think this is most likely to be a lot of wear on the bushes on the wishbones causing the alignment of the wheels to move. I've driven an A2 like this in the past and it was dangerous. I would advise getting it checked out as soon as you can.

It may even be that the wishbones are heavily corroded and about to give way.

You are probably looking at £80 per side for the wishbones (if this is what is causing the issue) plus at least 4 hours labour at best.

I'd second Steve above. I bought an A2 with a snapped main bolt on one of the wishbones. Drove it home on the motorway. All I had to do to change lanes was floor the accelerator one way or release the accelerator to go the other way.

Well, it is the wishbones. Issue compounded in that the bolts are seized. It never rains!

Hopefully sorted this week.
