management light on

Hi,
I am about to purchase a 2003 1.6 FSI the management light that is in the shape of an engine is on all the time. The owner says it has been checked and had code N316. Should I worry? I have to make a decision by 6pm tommorrow (Monday). Can you hepp????
 
hi ME4CATS the code n316 refers to the intake manifold runner position sensor--so it could be the sensor itself (but i doubt it is) it is probably the runner itself stuck or the arm has broken off. the inlet manifold is not easy to take apart so best left to vag specialist.i suspect if he knows the code then he has looked a bit deeper and found it is not a simple repair. why does he not get it repaired?
