Still not a fan of the boot panel :p but the exhaust looks very nice. Works well with the wider stance of the car because of the TT wheels.
Concur sir. If it was just ‘scalloped bit’ I think it would look AMAZING but none the less, it’s come on soooo much from the starting point.

Thanks for all the comments chaps, it turned out better than I imagined so really chuffed.
@Darren C the tone has a bit of a rumble but cruising at 70mph today on the dual carriageway home it was completely silent so total result.
Well I managed to machine polish the roof, pillars and bonnet but after a clay bar all over and fallout remover, but it was getting late so wax the whole car by hand and this is the result.

All ready for the AITP show on Sunday. I'm totally knackered now but a job worth doing.

What a transformation from the car you bought Mark ? That really has some presence now and that's a fantastic shine you've got on it. After all that hard work, I do hope there's still some of it left by Sunday ☔

Brilliant and inspirational thread Mark. Such a great transformation, a very personal A2 that has been bettered by your craftsmanship. I hope it stays dry and pulls the crowds on Sunday.
Your to kind Darren, it's been challenging at times but I've enjoyed every bit of it. There is plenty more to do including cruise control and the full DIS dash being done by Tom next weekend, can't wait for that to be fair.

A project is never finished Mark, your reward is knowing how much has been done by your own hand; an extra special touch. I look forward to seeing your efforts in the flesh so to speak at some point in the future.

Looked good at AITP Mark, didn’t see you but impressed with what you have achieved

After my epic trip to Tom's I now have Cruise Control fitted which is just so nice to have, also my drivers side window control unit has been fixed with a replacement drivers side control unit. If you've read my thread about Tom aka @timmus then you know how much extra has been sorted but here is a quick run down:-
-6 x screws replaced in various locations as they were missing
-2 x securing clips that were missing from the door and sill trim
-1 x water drain replaced on the right side and 1 x water drain fitted on the left side that was completely missing
-1 x engine rubber seal fitted that was missing from the front of the engine bay
-1 x plastic trim from the drivers side wing that the top rubber seal attaches to fitted as it was missing
-1 x plastic seat on the drivers wing that seats the top corner of the bonnet
-1 x drivers side check strap replaced with the improved brass fittings
-various wires tie wrapped and secured properly in the engine bay
-wires in the drivers side door card correctly seated and secured

I have no doubt I will of forgotten a few things but I have covered the majority of extras Tom did for me without even asking. What I do now know is my air con compressor is goosed and I will need a new one, but with summer already coming to an end it can wait for now.

Fitted the arm rest today, bit of a faf but got there in the end. The arm rest bracket is solid and holds the A6 C5 arm rest perfectly, sadly the plastic surrounds didn't fit well at all but I will live with it for now until something more suitable is sorted, just glad to finally have an armrest, oh what a difference it makes.

I believe it's for stone chips but not sure as it came with it when I bought it and the guy I bought it of didn't know.
Probably is, but I got a feeling there might be a scratched/damaged paint underneath, as no point putting stone chip protector on the roof, but not on the hood.
EDIT: Just seen pics that you'd resprayed the whole area, and it was just a protector after all, looks good in red.
Btw I did very quick colouring, you might be interested about it later.
