Minor BOSE problem

Just working through a newly acquired A2 with Bose.

Was banking on car coming with Blaupunkt and just whipping an an android head unit and being done with it.

Car however, came with Bose on the drivers side and Blaupunkt on the passenger side. I guess minor side damage and door swap sometime long ago.

I have to admit to not having pulled the door cards and drivers out to see exactly what's in there I'm just going on the grilles and the fact it isn't driving the front speakers at any volume above a whisper, and it saying Bose on boot, and the trunk sub.

So what I was hoping to find out is:

Would mismatched drivers cause no sound, it was helpfully suggested quite possible in my welcome thread.

If they are mismatched are the plugs the same, can I just put in a couple of secondhand drivers without breaking out the soldering iron?

Could I just remove the driver and tweeter from drivers rear and put it in passenger front and have 2/3 of a soundsystem.

I understand the Blaupunkt tweeters are different from the Bose, but can I get away without replacing those, they seem difficult to get.

Where might I find a pair of tweeters and how much am I looking at spending?

I think that's about it thanks, I can always hum or something if it's a £250 fix.

Hi,

As I said in your welcome thread Tom(@timmus)is the man to ask.

To aide your search I have tried to find the part number for you of the Bose tweeters in a thread I knew contained Bose part numbers but unfortunately the link fails. @spike is the author of the post in question and I am sure he will now come back to you..

Thanks. Don't worry about part numbers, I already saw those in an old thread iirc they're just the Blaupunkt # with an A suffix like the speakers are. I just can't find them singly second hand yet.

I'll phone the parts desk but i fear they'll be extortionate.

Fine.

The thread I just linked suggested Bose parts were discontinued in 2009! I think you will have your work cut out to find your Bose parts; I cannot see why someone would fragment a Bose setup, surely worth more to keep it together, but I suppose there might be something if part of a car had suffered severe impact damage.

Good luck with your search.

Didn't see that thread link, I'm kinda red colourblind.

Good info there thanks. Had considered buying a full system and splitting it but I can see that ending in tears.

Update, seems fixed.

Idk if it's placebo, but I fixed the open wire on the brake wear indicator and the sound seemed better. Went into tone controls and put everything on middle and it seems fine.

I dum I guess.

Pulled the passenger side door card and all is as it should be. Grilles must have been kicked in. Idk. Whatever.
