It seems as if though the previous owner has driven a little ofroad with my A2. Yesterday i heard a little rattle under the car, what i found was a dangling pipe!

The pipe is on the front right-side under the car (right when sitting inside the car) and is pointed to the ground. As far as i can understand its missing somekind of cover or beholder to keep in into place. The pipe comes from "something" thats also situated on the far right-side of the engine, right below the windsheald.

I looked at the other side and there is a plastic cover thats placed on the same area but then without any pipe connecting into it.

Does anybody know what kind of pipe this is and if its harmfull to drive the car without the casing/cover?

Reading your description makes it a bit foggy for me, but all things put together I'd guess it was a drainage hose/pipe/duct that reroutes the water that flows in through the hood's vents.
Have you tried pouring water onto the windshield or even into the hood vents? Does it come out of the pipe you have dangling around?

Any other signs on the pipe that might indicate what kind of 'fluid' or 'air' it expells? Oily? Dirty?

HTH. Maybe you should do temp fixing yourself, to prevent it being ripped off at some stage...

Is the item covered in fur, and comes to a point? Does it let out a noise if you squeeze it?

If so, it is a cat.....

Yup, thats the webasto exhaust. Normally it's secured by a large plastic plate at the bottom of the car. Guess the previous driver took a curb or something and removed the plastic plate.
You might want to get this fixed though, when the heater switches on (automagically below 5 degrees outside) there's hot air coming from that, not to mention smelly diesel fumes.

YEAH
I would agree seems you have lost all your under-cal so you have no protection for your engine against the elements.

The exhaust duct should be secured to the plastic cowling by 3 torx screws.
by the way if this is missing
How does the car drive?

The cars going in for a checkup on Monday, thanks for the tips.

The car works fine, and since i've probably had the part missing since i bought it 2months ago, it worked fine in winter conditions too. Strange.
