I've had my A2 1.4 SE for nearly 2 years now, amongst the AVS system not working when i first got it (went back on day 2 to get it reset.) the anti roll bars needing replacing. I had the EPC light come on, (engine power control).
Naturally concerned, in the manual it tells you to call Audi asap.
(In the manual, if EPC is shown, 'your engine managment control is running on a backup system' Very worrying)
Thankfully it's still under warranty until march this year, a very helpful roadside mechanic came out and diagnosed the fault in seconds with his "plug in box of tricks".
It was a little black switch that is connected to the brake pedal to let the engine managment know the engine wont need as much fuel.
Nice, a switch worth no more than a tenner and 1 hour of labour. Still under warranty, but how much without? (200 notes?) I dread to think. How else would the man on the street type of mechanic find this problem?
I'm getting worried now the warrany is drawing in?
Anyone had to pay a ridiculous amount of money when their warranty expired. I find it disgusting that they charge can charge so much and polish up a fault which is really so simple. three pannels had to come off to access the switch.
Sureley, paying so much in first place to get the car should contribute to their massive profits. I bet the equivilent part in a skoda wouldnt cost as much.
I'd imagine there are mixed feelings about this but I dont like throwing money away. I have to stick up for service, they have been fast and helpful when i have approached them but does it have to cost so much?
