MOT Failed on Beam Pattern "~

Went in for a MOT last week and I had my Car Mod Shop HID kit installed, the MOT failed on "No Beam Pattern".

I then installed the original H7 Standard bulbs in, went for a re-test and once again came back "No Beam Pattern".

The All Audi MOT Centre told me the beam patten is just a round blur of light, rather then the straight and angling off beam pattern its supposed to be.

Any ideas, whats going on?? What I could do to fix this?:confused:

Thanks

It sounds like your bulbs are possibly not seating properly in the headlamp unit. Even if you appear to clip them in securely, it is possible that they are not seated correctly, which would impact on beam alignment.

You do need to re-check beam alignment when ever you remove the bulbs. Have you tried adjusting the headlamp aim?

...The bulbs look like there sat right, they are sat inside the plastic surrounding.

How do I check for the headlight aim?

If you've tried re-fitting the H7 halogen bulbs and got the same result, that tells me that they have not been fitted correctly.

Don't think I'm having a go, or calling you inept - I'm not and I realise how incredibly easy it is to get them just a fraction out (less than 1mm will make a massive difference).

Take the headlamps out of the car and refit with the shell sat if front of you.

Thats a top tip from Mike it is very fiddly to get it right and the smallest deviation makes a big difference.

I've fitted a lot of HID kits over the years and believe me, it's very tricky to get the bulb base sat just right - there's been occasions when I've really struggled due to the attached wires to the bulbs, so take your time and check/double check.

Cheers,

Mike

Thanks for the tips guys!

Without sounding like a numpty and not having to go back the third time and failing the mot again, how will I know if the bulbs are sat right and are giving the correct beam pattern???

Thanks
