MOT time... argh...

It does sound like an attempt to carry out chargeable work, with an MoT Certificate at the end of it. Maybe the garage has changed ownership, or, like the rest of us, finding the going tough.
I may be seeing it all wrong, of course.
Good luck whatever you decide.

Could make an appointment at a tyre shop, (not KwikFit or Halfords), and ask them to check your tyres, if there's anything to find they'll find it, but you don't have to buy if they do. If they find nothing like you're MoT man did, you know your MoT man is less than honest.
Try here.

ok, update time...

tried to book the repairs for mot at my normal garage but they are closed most of the coming week because of the bank holidays etc... I do trust these guys despite my not being able to find the flaw or tear in the tire...

anyway... ended up going to a garage around the corner from my office and everything was sorted whilst at work...

there was a problem with the tire... I think the mechanic said something about it being a flaw /bubble so it was just not something I could see especially when I was looking for the tear and the braided wires etc hanging out ha ha... this is what normal mechanic described to me...

anyway, he ended up fixing the wiper blade arm too - he said he just bent it and it appears to be working perfectly now...

and he did spend 45 minutes aiming the headlamp...

so MOT sorted and I am happy... whew!
