MPG has suddenly gone from kind-of-okay to worst

Had a similar fuel consumption and performance issue that I notice after replacing front 2 tyres with Falken All-season A200 (which lately have been downgraded to an E for fuel efficiency 😒 ). However, took the car for MOT a few weeks back and it failed emissions and there was also an oil leak from the 'pressure switch'. Garage fixed the oil leak “cleaned up spark plugs and LAMDA sensor” – passed the emissions and responsiveness of car is noticeably better. But can’t say for certain if fuel efficiency has been improved as I note mixed driving in a hilly part of town seems to make a good dent in the fuel garage for c.10 mile round trip. So am wondering if the A2 is leaking fuel on the steep incline/declines or just naturally consumes more ALOT fuel on the effort required? One more thing to add nearside rear sheild dropped off several months ago and could not be reattached (but was informed it would not make any difference and not an MOT failure).

Sylvester how did you solved your problem? I have the same issue ( BBY engine, 1.4 petrol). Changed fuel pump by myself. Afterwards noticed that coolant was leaking. This time technician solved the problem but afterwards fuel consumption reached new highs about 9 ltr/100km. The leaking was straight behind this plastic pipe.
