MSN Review of Audi A2 vs A Class

Based on the reviewers personal tastes I guess he probably prefers the a class due to his dull and uninspired personality... Not a surprise as its MSN cars, common... What did you expect?

And the piece about the mercedes interior is of a better quality is unbelievable!

The A class has been slated in all the top car review mags due to its bad drive and poor quality interior that seems like something out of a 90's ford fiesta.

The new A class is only slightly better than the old model.

The comparison is obviously dated and with that old A class it was not even a comparison. The interior quality of the A-Class was substandard and cheap. Echo 100% comment on fiesta-like quality. It was also everywhere with the big orange EasyCar fleet, at least in London. No character and dull in every way. Only plus point is front passenger seat can come off for extra long and bulk load if needed. I did not even consider the A Class as a possible purchase when I got my A2.

Agreed. This review goes against everything I have previously read and my own, in depth, observations.

One of my friends at work owns the A-Class and having sat in it a few times, then a few weeks ago I sat in an A2, there really is no competition.
Both cars I’ve not yet driven (so can't comment on handling etc..) but just going by the looks, build and space of both, the A2 seems far more together.
Also, having looked at the second hand market (which I have for the last month or two) There are FAR MORE A-Class for sale than the A2, this for me speaks for it's self ;)
A2 all the way, job done.

That's my pence worth.

Auto Express did a feature comparison on the A2 and A-class, which says the opposite of that article, and (shockingly, for AutoDistress) concurs with other leading motor mags of the time.

A friend's A-Class fell apart in front of his eyes. And isn't it infuriating that websites generally think that dating articles is not necessary?
Groot!

I drive the A2, my wife has the A class, so I can comment with a degree of knowledge.

The A Class build quality, innovation and overall finish is way behind that of the A2 and the car fails to live up to its prestigious badge unlike the Audi. It is unfair of me to directly compare power delivery, (mine is the TDI, the wife has the 1.4 petrol Merc), but suffice to say the A2 excels here too!!

I am not about to slate the A Class completely, because it does what it says on the tin fairly well, it is just not up to the fit and finish of the Audi. My wife's A Class is a 54 plate and my A2 an 05, so in terms of build date they are close, but not in terms of cars, the A2 just continues to leave the Merc behind. The drive, switchgear, interior and exterior finishes on the A2 are just too good and only make the A Class look average and dated in an another wise debatable market place.

My wife drove my A2 today, (after I had driven us to the pub and left in no fit condition to drive back :D); but the expression on her face as she entered the driving seat, coupled with the grin etched upon her face, says it all. She loves the A2 as much as I do and despite not being into cars, even she acknowledges that the A2 drives better, looks better, feels more stable on the road and excels in every other area. So much so, that we may well depart with the 54 plate Merc for an older and second A2. Watch this space... :p

Now theres a thought Mike... ;)

Some would probably conceive us as sad anyway if we do decide to have twins.. (so to speak, :)), but three maybe taking things a little too far!!

Still, Kayleigh can always amuse herself with the minichamps scale model, which is probably safer and cheaper in the long run!! :p

Cheers,

Darren
