Multi plug

For anyone carrying out a cruise control mod if you've got the soldering skills its possible to make your own loom without having to buy one....they're about £47 from Audi for the A2
The 10 pin plug that fits the control stalk is the same as used on the electric mirror adjustment switch fitted to most Audi A4 B6/7, VW Golf 2002-2005, VW Polo 2001-2005 a little bit of wire to suit which could also be stripped out from any scrap car and there you go. Probably no more than a fiver from most breakers.
Obviously you'll need a wiring diagram to work out where everything goes, but I'm sure a quick search of old posts will find you what you need..

Great to know.
To continue a low cost but still genuine quality path; is it a stalk from a early 2000 Passat from the breaker then? (which part number would that be now..?)

The Passat (early) part seems to be - 8L0 953 513 J ; later on it is a 1J0 part 1J0 953 513 (which I think corresponds to the early and late rocker button versions mentioned in the other Cruise thread and described by Tom (Timmus). Audi A6 & Allroad up to 2004/5 use the 8L stalk. The 1J0 stalk is also a fitting on the contemporary VW Golf (up to 2004), although this also uses the 8L stalk on earlier cars, so this could be another scrappy option.

Only thing worth remembering is that all surviving Passats and A6s I've seen of that generation tend to be 1.9Tdis that have gone to the moon and back so the stalk may be a bit worn if you're unlucky. My 2003 A6 is on 117,000 miles and the cruise stalk is fine, so the intrinsic quality of the parts is good providing it's not been over-used.

Interestingly, switching to the 7Zap page for the A2, the original cruise stalk is also the 8L part listed above 8L0 953 513 J.

Or for about the price as the loom from Audi you can get a complete kit including switch and loom from Cum-Cartec in Germany. The loom comes with the plug for the switch, the piggy backs for the clutch switch and pins already fitted for the computer.
