Music to test BOSE

Has a bit of everything, wait till 2.37

that version's compressed. even Spotify on extreme is guilty of this.

Other suggestions: Club For Five, preferably Brothers in Arms. If you can stand the encryption, I'd recommend Joka päivä ja joka ikinen yö, too. Again, though, Spotify compresses this; there's not as much air at the top end as there should be.
Jamie Cullum: When I Get Famous; Don't stop the Music, and Music is Through
Jamiroquai's Didjital Vibrations has some awesome funk and is really nicely recorded.
Yello's Blender has bass through the floor... almost as good as Leftfield :)
And defintively Oscar Peterson Trio // You look good to me. On a good system that is truly awesome, especially the slight bass distortion, it's really live and it's really obvious :)

Prompted by @A2Steve 's issues a while ago when he thought there was something ill in BOSEland with his stereo, I thought I would start a thread with some suggested listening to show off the quality of the BOSE system, and indeed to test whether it is working okay. To encourage collaboration I'm not saying this is any kind of definitive list, and I'm perfectly happy to add to it as suggestions. Hopefully we can get stuff which suits most people's tastes.

So, my starters:
  • Tone Loc - Funky Cold Medina
  • The Cranberries - No Need to Argue
  • Pet Shop Boys - Young Offender (Jam & Spoon Trip-o-Matic Fairytale Remix No 1) Although this does tend to go a bit "too" low for the BOSE, and can induce pretty bad rattling if played too loud
  • Pink Floyd - Dogs of War (from Delicate Sound of Thunder)
  • AC/DC - Thunderstruck
  • Stevie Wonder - Superstition
  • Rolling Stones - Gimme Shelter
  • Michael Jackson - Wanna Be Startin' Something
  • Dire Straits - Sultans of Swing
  • Grace Jones - Slave to the Rhythm
  • The Jam - Start!
  • Prodigy - Out of Space (rather than Firestarter, but I know what you mean Steve ;) )
  • Stranglers - Nice & Sleazy
  • Yes - Owner of a Lonely Heart (from 90125)
  • Led Zeppelin - Kashmir
  • Robert Miles - Children
  • William Orbit - Adiago for Strings
  • Snap - The Power
  • KLF - What Time is Love (Which version though ...)
  • Seal - Hey Joe
  • Erasure - Oh L'Amour
  • Jamie Cullum - Don't Stop the Music
  • Jamiroquai - Didjital Vibrations
  • Yello - The Race (maybe not the full 13:23 minute version...)
This would be probably one of my favourite road trips if your music was anything to go by...some pearlers in there...
Question....do you leave them to play all the way through? My wife gets twitchy fingers and skips to next track after about 30 secs. ...like having an over grown teenager in the passenger seat!!!!

WOW SAM! Some great tunes up there, I'll have to have a bit of a go through, a playlist of your own on there. I can't remember if you have BOSE or not, but it would be interesting to hear a side-by-side comparison if not.

Cheers Andy, the answer would be "probably not" if I were testing a system, as there are particular bits of certain tracks that I know like the back of my hand and know what notes/vocals/noises to listen out for. However, most of the tracks I would happily listen to all the way through, but sometimes that would depend on my mood.

No, Frankie hasn’t got bose ? but the girls usually sing the choruses and headbang, so it feels like surround sound :)

Yeah, I’m happy to do a side-by-side if you want, any excuse for good music. I like to listen to them start to finish though!

Off the top of my head Frankie has a non OEM head unit, but standard speakers which would make things interesting. I'm currently listening to a Sony MPX-70 stereo using the BOSE speakers (sans-bass boost) whilst I await Tom's visit to finish off JRV - I have to say it doesn't sound too bad at all. It certainly shows what a difference decent speakers make.

I'm assuming the girls weren't sleeping very well is why you were replying at 2 in the morning btw :) Time for ZZzzs

Another few tracks come into my mind whilst listening at work...

London Grammar - Hey Now
Beth Orton - She Cries Your Name (Trailer Park version)
One Dove - Fallen
... and seriously - East 17 - Overture Medley (from Letting off Steam tour) very slow build up, but full range sounds

Indeed!! Hoping for a better night tonight.

that Beth Orton track is great if you like female vocals and acoustic guitars. Apparently the new Florence and The Machine album is nicely recorded...
And don't forget pretty much anything from Sting or Prince :) Let's also throw in Massive Attack's Unfinished Sympathy and Angel.

I'd also recommend Patricia Kaas' Rendez-vous, the live album with two discs. Especially Entrer dans la lumiére and the last half-disc - it's a great show of a seriously good vocalist and a great band.

Indeed, I used to run Beth Orton's fan club, and ran the (unofficial, though management approved) website beth-orton.co.uk - been a big fan since I first heard this track.

Yeah, Florence is a good one to keep an eye on.

90s House here we come...

Delerium with Sarah McLachlan - Silence (DJ Tietso In Search of Sunrise Remix)

with modern retake on similar

Indiana - Solo Dancing

and a bit of chilling ...

Birdy - Skinny Love

I'm hoping this weekend to actually present these to disc so I can have a proper listen to them - hopefully the full FLAC files on those I can find (most I believe so far). As the BOSE in JRV now actually works perhaps I'll nip out for a spin in that :)

HI All
Having recently seen the Piano man in concert. Anything by Billy joel (it's still rock 'n' roll, we didn't start the fire, The river or the Piano Man are firm favourites of mine)
Ohh and not really applicable to an A2 but a great song. Fast car by Tracey Chapman
