Well after returning from hols my A2 started behaving very strangely. First the locking would only work intermittently and then the cabin lights started flickering on and off while driving along. Then the boot and petrol cap wouldn't open. Then it woke the neighbours up beeping through the night (not the alarm a high pitched beep). And then a relay/electrical gizmo could be heard switching like crazy behind the dash. Anyway full marks to Hadwins Audi, the lent us a brand new 1.6 FSi Sport and fixed the car. Some control board or something.

Anyway the 1.6 FSi sport. WOW, loved it. Azure blue with 17". Looked great.

Performance: This thing fealt so much heavier and slower than my 1.4 petrol until you hit 4000rpm then "bloody hell this thing goes". I guess this added to the sporty feel , having to rev the nads off it, but god its fast. My 1.4 petrol is faster round town with its eager revs but on the open road this thing would chew it up and spit it out. Also lots faster than a 1.4 Tdi (sorry guys, I know keep saying its negligable).

Ride was great round the twisty stuff, wheels helped and seemed no harsher than 16". Sports seats were superb, a million times better than standard SE spec ones. (allthough they seemed to be in the same fabric that I had in my 1992 2.0 16v Audi 80)

Fuel economy was down on the 48mpg I get on average from my 1.4 petrol to about 38mpg. Which I guess robs the A2 of one of its main attractions, but all in all impressed![24]
