So the poor girl went in for new ARB.

SO far apart from the arb, she has also had a new cd player, new glovebox, new drivers seat base, 4 wheel alignment, new passenger door handle and mechanism.

Only thing left - they cant diagnose issue with the performance - a couple of times the car when accelerating hard, does nothing at all, just feels liek it dies and then takes off.......

Why?????

Well apparently Tech got into the passenger side and noticed door handle didnt feel right - so investigated off his own back.

When Driving to from workshop to body shop he noticed rattle from glovebox and seat squeak so he investigated those also.

And apparently the Radio had a fault.

THankfully all under warrenty, but alas I am without it now for another day.

Top marks to Audi though for showing initiative.

Blimey, that garage must be quiet because they are certainly looking for work!

What's your mileage? If it is around the right mark, it might be worth asking for a cheap deal on cambelt and tensioner replacement etc?

Dont mean to hyjack but as you mentioned cambelt could you tell me what mileage the TDi 90 would be due a change pls.

50k?! When i was looking at getting a service done abuot a month and half back I rang Audi Lancaster for a quote and asked about the cambelt, and i was told the cambelt doesn't need doing until 80k on the A2?! Can people confirm this??

Cheers,

Mike

Don't wait till 80k regardless of what the dealer say unless they give you a written guarantee on the 1 already in your car. your gambling with you engine. Taunton audi changed mine at 50k for free as id just bought the car from them with a years warranty and they did nt want to run the risk of paying for an engine rebuild.

i thought that and was always told that most cars get done about the 60k mark, i've done about 55k at the moment, how soon should i get this done? (getting worried now, more about the bill in some ways though! :()

Cheers,

Mike

Well I think I should get my cab belt done this coming October as the car will have done about 50k and it will be going in for a service and mOT anyway.
Anyone got any ideas what the cost should be for a cam belt and pullys change?.

Hi Mike

I did maddys at 58k but you can get it done any time from now to 60k but i would not go much beyond 60k if i were you.
Have a good look round to see what's the best price you can get the cambelt /water pump done for

cheers

So got the carback and as usual.........

When I book the car in "Please do not wash the car, please write this in big letters on the job card".

Theabove was done, and they washed it anyway, so now booked in to have the scratches fixed, rear bumper and rear wheel arch :(

Yes, never let them or a refugee car wash place or anyone touch your car!
They tend to use dirty sponges and a bucket of gritty water to wash cars which inflict scratches, swirls, and holograming to the clear top coat reducing reflections and gloss to your paintwork.

I will be starting a new thread with photos very soon on the correct way to wash a car and remove swirls, minor scratches etc and what products to use and in which order. This will bring your paint work up better than the day it was collected from the dealers. :)
