My First A2 - FSI Project Build

At least the heater flaps fault has gone ...
I'd look at the coil packs, if original (check date code) replace them (£100).
Also, bet the spark plugs haven't been changed in a while.
Mac.

Have done a full service today (need to do cambelt still though), just going to rescan after the service and will post up

Coil packs are Bosch so not original ones and plugs needed replacing, tips completely gone.

So have cleared the codes, completed a 3 mile drive after service and this is the new scan.

Will scan again after a few more miles

Appreciate everyone's experience and support here :)

Sorry for the lack of updates on my build thread, no excuses and Tom (@2work) has just prompted me!

I’m pleased to say that the project has been coming along nicely, the FSI is running as it should after diagnosing the fault as the flap position sensor. It’s running with a Proboost ECU so hopefully the other FSI gremlins will remain at bay ?

We’ve now dropped the rear (still have the front to do), it’s running on TT 18’s with 10mm spacers at the rear (may remove these as slight rubbing under load).

I’ve also had the roof refurbished by @Kleynie which I’m very happy with.

The headlights have been upgraded using Osram LED dipped beam along with others, although LED indicators cause fault code ?

Rear badges have been changed to black

Got quite an interior project to commence in the next week or so, to include

- recoloured headlining
- recoloured A & C pillars
- recoloured Sunvisors
- Double Din Dash conversion
- Under handbrake tray
- RNSE
- OEM Bluetooth
- Multi Media Adapter
- Rear View Camera
- Dash Cam
- Auto Dipping Rear View Mirror
- Cruise Contol
- Komfortblinker
- Footwell Lighting

Once interior done a few exterior jobs to be completed

- Both CV Boots
- Full Machine Polish
- Ceramic Coating
- Treat Lower Plastics
- Front Lowering Springs

Other things I’m considering are

- Custom Exhaust
- Top Body Wrap Gloss Black
- Wheel Swap

I’ll update here again soon as things progress!

Afternoon Steve,

A great update. You have been busy Sir.

Really interested in the rear view camera project with the RNS-E, is it a PU (Mk2) that you’re using. I’ll keep an eye on your future updates.

I need to get on with more updates on my 3 threads. These posts have just spurred me on to pull my finger out, thank you.

Keep up the great work you’re doing here. It’s nice to see yet another A2 getting the time and attention it rightly deserves.

Kind regards,

Tom

I believe it’s an original unit rather than the later ones but I have had it refurbished, new software and maps loaded etc

Used the guy you recommended for this, Bart @VagRetrofits ?? Also bought the OEM Bluetooth and Multimedia module from him

Can you comment on what bulbs you were running on dipped previously and how the LEDs compare? Also did they fit right in or were modifications (to the wiring or fitment) required?

Was running just standard bulbs, the Osram LEDs are a straight fit, no heat sinks to locate etc and as long as installed at the correct position light output and pattern are pretty good. Definitely worth the spend IMO

I've just realised I updated the wrong build thread! From the first post to the last the car hanged colour, reg etc!! I've now updated the correct post! :)
