My first A2

Axle on and rear hubs together.

It turned into quite a big job.
So far I have replaced shocks, bump stops, dust covers, axle bushes, wheel bearings, back plates, calipers, discs, pads and all new bolts. Both rear brake lines have been cleaned down and re painted as they were good. The back end is now all together and I have moved to the front. The front brakes are good so I’m just changing the rusted back plates.
Everything was bled today including the clutch. The fluid that came out of the slave looked to be original. I used a pressure bleed tool to do this which made it very easy.
Back to turbo removal tomorrow to clean the vanes. I’ve been putting that job off!
I have a fuel filter plug on order from Depronman as mine is broken after the filter change.
Thanks to Crew Audi for most of the parts and excellent quick posting.

Have enjoyed seeing the work that’s gone into this one. Right for another 20 years now.

Back on the road. Took her for wheel alignment and rear is spot on. Front was way out and I haven’t touched that.

I still have eml on as I never got around to removing the turbo. That’s still on my to do list.

Finally got around to changing the oil level sensor today. It wasn't difficult at all. I removed the boost pipe clip from the sump to give some movement of the pipe to allow me to lift the sensor out. The broken one is a genuine vag sensor marked 2010 so not the original. The replacement is a aftermarket version but fitted well and works. No more warning buzzer every time you switch on! Do these sensors have a reputation for failing? And has anyone opened one up to see what's inside and if they can be fixed?
I also picked up a new undertray as mine was missing. Under £50 is unusually cheap from Audi in my view. Fitted nicely and hopefully will keep everything clean down there.
I also rubbed down and treated my front wishbones with Fertan. They have a little surface rust and are the pressed steel version so I need to keep on top of this. After 24 hours soaking, I will wash off and treat with Bilt clear wax.
I've recently discovered Fertan. Interesting stuff, easy to apply, made in Germany and seems to work well.
I still have the turbo issue to fix but my daughter is now using the car for work so it will have to wait. She loves the car.
