My little Akoya

Not been washed for ages so finally gave it some love and attention. Still racking up the mileage without issue - 500 mile tanks with ease.

A side effect of getting the plastic front wings squeeky clean and then polished, waxed and Zaino'd is that you can charge them up with static electricity somewhat and make your arm hairs stand on end!!

Did look nice and clean today - just waiting for my Gtechniq C4 to arrive to do the black plastics:

Detoxed, 2BM wash, clay mitt, bit of Poorboys SSR1 via machine to spruce the shine up, AG HD wax then Zaino Z6 to zing it up. Slapped a bit of Rainx on the glass too as something to do whilst the wax cured..lol

Well I did a 1000+ mile trip over the Christmas break and little Akoya didn't skip a beat. Even when trying to get out of Scotland last week when virtually all routes south were blocked or flooded. A 6 hour trip took 11 hours but he kept on plodding.
On the easy drive up he even nudged 70mpg so doing well.

The only down side now is he's got a 6" crack in his windscreen so will need to get that sorted before we have any frosts.

Sorry - was just someone needing the space in their garage via ebay. I got in there quick and got them cash on collection.

its great when it works out like that: right place, right time! Thanks for that

Ps. Car looks stunning

Little Akoya had a service at APS Brackley today - The O/H had her TT serviced there a few weeks back* and they went above and beyond on customer service so thought I'd give them a try.

£80 later I had an oil and filter change, health check, ECU code read etc and they even fitted the new drivers side door strap that I had in the door pocket.

Can't recommend them enough. :D

*Her TT had developed a "clonk" at the back. Ed and the team had it out on numerous test drives and they reckoned it was the rear dampers. They were Bilstein B2 and only 14 months old (originally supplied and fitted by the TT shop in Bedford) - fitting a pair of standard ones the clonk disappeared. A quick call to Bilstein and they had a pair of B4 shocks there the next day (out of stock on the B2 so sent the better rated ones F.O.C.) Ed and the team fitted them and all was well. When we went to collect her TT, Ed refused to accept any payment for the work saying it was under the Bilstein warranty and Bilstein would give them a bit of a discount the next time they ordered something. Totally shocked that they didn't want even half an hours labour we were waved on our way. So today I went down with boxes of chocolates and haribo as a thank you which were demolished!

Yep I always take my TT to APS - Ed and the rest of the guys are beyond reproach!

Simon.

Back to APS today for some shiny new pads and discs and a working temperature sensor switch. And flew through the MOT of course so currently got 13 months.

Love my little A2.

2 lugging trips for the tanklet this weekend.

1st was a trip to the wheel refurbishment place. A2 16" alloys with tyres on x4 + new winter 16" tyres x4 for them. TT 18" alloys with tyres on x4 all in the back.

Then yesterdays dump trip - 4 bookcases all flattened and a single wooden bed with mattress.

It's a little TARDIS. ;)

And still room for more as well. Not sure if you saw my recent post but we fitted a whole interior of an A2 in the back of one. I eman absolutely everything bar the headlining. Very impressive.

Got the alloys back from the powder coaters - my standard 6 spoke alloys now with winter tyres and the O/H OEM TT alloys including 2 brand new Goodyear Assy3

Will be applying Gtechniq C5 onto them during the week then fitting the O/H alloys back on *her TT* at the weekend. My 6 spokes will go on when it gets a bit colder.

;)
