This is another introduction thread by me, this time its because ive bought a A2 :D

Some of you might have seen another thread about this car from when it was for sale!

The short story is it was on eBay not far from me. It had a water leak, noise from the engine, had 12 months MOT. The guy selling it wanted it gone before the weekend. Car only had 1 key, no service history.

The car is

A2 1.6 FSI Sport.
Forest Green? (need to check the code but people have said its Forest!!)
53k.
Cream leather sports seats with electric lumbar control. (Twist??)
4 Seater.
Open sky sunroof.
17" alloys.

The car has got 4 new tyres. Brake disc's and pads are like new.

Since i have bought it i have changed the cambelt, tensioners (genuine Audi) Aux belt, Water pump, Oil / filter, fuel filter, air and pollen filter, Spark plugs, 2 x coil packs, brake fluid, antifreeze.

I have Taxed and insured the car now so i will be driving it and do any repairs to faults that crop up.

Glad you've got it up and running, it's a lovely colour combo. It caused quite a fuss at the time but glad it's gone to a good home. Is the grab bar on the passenger side of the dash bent?

It can be replaced but it's a dashboard out job.

I replaced mine without removing the dash, I can't remember the exact sequence but I believe I took off the side air vent and/or side trim next to it) possibly the glove box (buit I am not sure that is necessary, I had to repair mine at the same time - The usual broken arm on the glovebox light switch) and the centre airvents (I think).

It is possible to see what has to come off, so you should be able to manage it with basic tools and knowledge, certainly doable.

Yes, as Steve says it can be changed without removing the dashboard. It's bolted to the dash at both ends, and the Torx bolts are accessed by removing the passenger and centre air vents. :p

Regards,

Matt.

Well well, you learn something new every day. I noticed the torx screws for it on the last dashboard removal I did but didn't realise you could be done with it in situ.
