My new car - or is it?

Well, I took the plunge again and ordered a new TDi 90 Sport after an extended test drive. It was a factory order. The car arrived in June and I arranged to collect it on 20th June. The day before, I went to the dealer, Bradford Audi, to make sure everything was as arranged. The car had been registered etc etc. It looked the part in the car park, the only visible difference from my 2002 TDi Sport being the new grille and front fog lights.

Excellent, had to have a peek into the interior to check the grey matrix cloth [29] HORROR :( it had the wrong interior!!!

I had specifically ordered the grey/grey interior, that's why it was a factory order. The car I was viewing had the grey seats but the rest of the interior was black (dash, doors, carpets) Salesman's first response was grey/grey cannot be ordered. After telling him it was and that if he insisted on b******ing I'd not be collecting the car and I'd be taking it further, he went off. Came back and said we'll look on the system to see if there's anything on there or in the pipeline - nothing. So he offered to order me another car, this time with the correct interior. It's here and I'm collecting it on 5th September :)

The cherished plate transfer had already been done and I suspect they already had a buyer for my car as it flew out of the dealership within a week or two. All the salesman kept saying was your car is better presented than anything on our forecourt. He even got his sales manager to come out and check the car, especially the 17" wheels which were unmarked (original not refurbished) after 18 months. They couldn't believe how clean they were. They must have thoroughly checked the car as all they could find was a stonechip on one of the front wings which I had touched up. So since 20th June I've had a brand new TDi 90 Sport, courtesy of Bradford Audi.

All in all I've done well out of the mix up as I got a very favourable part ex/deal in the first place, based on a new car registered in June (04 plate). The bonus is that the new car will have 3,000 miles less on it, it'll be a 54 plate and mysteriously it will have leather/alcantara upholstery ;)

Now I'm happy again.[23]

Same as me, they got the interior colour wrong. I wanted the black, but they got me the grey
to be honest I didn't care very much but was able to wangle a free service and a set of rubber floor mats out of them by bursting into tears (no not really)
And I like the grey a lot, the interior is much less gloomy than the A4s I've been in. Nightmare to keep it clean though.
Hope you like the 90, mine's really loosening up after 10k miles and it goes along very nicely

Thanks Mark, the 90 is great, I'm going to have to start from 0 miles again, boo hoo. But I know what you mean about them loosening up. My last A2 loosened up after 9,000 miles and the difference in economy was marked.

The issue I have with the black interior is that I find the doors especially, mark very easily and tend to show white marks at the slightest touch. The grey interior seems to make the interior more roomy and airy.

I have teh black/black interior. The doors stain easily from touching (must have greasy hands..) and the seats stain from water when it's raining.
Although I really like the black my next car will probably be grey.

Stains on the black seats or doors? How do you do that?
Mine's black all round too, and it has been great for the non-caring car-dweller that I am. My doors and seats have withstood heaps of rain coming in through open doors or my clothes, human sweat from 40 degree heat, salty water from the beach, sand, dirt, leaves anything. Only vacuumed my car 2 times or so over the last year and guess what: no stains whatsoever, except for the slight striping on the doorpanels from my shoes rubbing them.
Maybe sport seats cloth is different?

I'll take a black interior any time. Much more classy and robust than the grey stuff. Beige is nice, but should only be available in real leather, IMHO.

Well, it's all subjective. Maybe I don't pay attention as much as you guys do.

I always have stains on the black in-door-trim-panels... (I have the all-black S-Line interiour) and find it a nightmare to keep clean!
I would have liked grey Leather/Alcantara, but the call of the SatNavPlus was stronger...:) (The car was an ex-Audi-car)
Does anybody have a suggestion on how to clean the interior door? (ok, so I still can´t decide whether to write "interiour" or "interior"...which one is correct?)

Bye, Frido.

Frido, I've found the door trim panels to be the worst for marking. A quick rub with a damp chamois leather does the trick. It's interior by the way.

I use a damp micro-fibre cloth. It seems to absorb the dirt without making the fabric too damp.

We have black interior and I have always used a damp artificial chamois on the door panels - SWMBO cleaned it out on Saturday and found an alternative solution - furniture polish!!!!!

Car is being traded for one with a grey interior so will be less of a problem.

Picked up the new A2 yesterday with the correct interior after 3413 miles in A2 number 3. There is a difference of about 3500 units when I compared the VIN number of the new car with the one delivered in June. I wonder if that is all A2's?
The average fuel consumption didn't exceed 49mpg during the first few weeks in the June car, this one is already in the mid 50's.
It has the auto central locking at 10mph feature.
It had a small black mark on the headlining which I took care of myself and the front passenger side speaker sounds duff so that'll have to be seen to.
Apart from that all is fine.
It has Pirelli zero nero's.
The grey leather/alcantara looks and smells the part.
