My open sky is dead!

Hi all. I’m new to the site and have just bought an 02 plate 1.4 TDI SE in silver with just one owner from new! I’ve had it about 3 weeks now. It was a very rare find indeed and so underpriced! I’ve already had the car professionally buffed, all alloys refurbished, new centre caps and tyres, new front fog trims and private reg is on. It’s looking amazing already. It’s in decent condition but there’s still a list of things I want sorting ASAP - it’s booked into have a few scratches removed, new locking nuts on order and a new button for the fuel is coming too.
The next job is the Opensky sunroof and this is where I need advise please! So when I press the button to open/close it, there’s absolutely nothing happening, it’s completely dead. You can’t hear the motor trying, nothing. The open/close button has power to it as the button light works. I’ve also removed the blind today so it feels like a panoramic roof now - looks far better without the blind.
So I’m in Preston, Lancashire and I am will to drive to take it to somebody who knows what there doing etc. Do people also get the sunroof serviced to avoid faults in the future? Any advice on this would be much appreciated, thanks!

@Kleynie is your man for oss, he's in Staines. Also @timmus maybe able to help, he's nearer in Morecombe.
Welcome to the club, be prepared to get totally addicted ?
We always like to see photos of new cars to the forum, when you get a chance.

Cheers for the reply. I’m already addicted! ?? I need that open sky opening!! Will they see this post - I guess so as they are tagged in it now?

I will have to take some pictures next week, when we are due the good weather… I took one tonight of it being tucked away for the night in the garage. Personally though, I think the reg plates needs making up on the bigger plates, as plate looks a bit lost in the space?! The width looks right but it looks like it needs another inch on the height - If that makes sense so the reg fills the space a bit better.

Here we are. We are a father and son, and more recently daughter, outfit. I am becoming less involved, but Adam will look after you, as Mandy said we work from my house in Staines J13, M25, so if you plan a journey our way and have a spare £550, then great. But first, I would suggest the motor has been unplugged, drop the interior light panel down to confirm. Once you drop the interior light panel down there should be an Allen key attached to the top of it, this key fits into the motor and you can try to open the roof, push the first glass panel upwards to help it initially. If the roof does not move there is a good chance it’s wedged due to broken plastic cable ends. We replace those with metal, replace the wind seal and gaskets, totally strip and clean the whole mechanism and add the modified motor mount manufactured by our very own A2OC Depronman.
The service is on exchange basis, meaning we have a refurbished roof ready when you turn up, we remove your broken sky and fit an open sky, we need the car for around 4 hours.
If this is something you are interested in then drop us a PM and we’ll take it from there. Either Adam or I will pick up the PM and deal with this as quickly as possible for you.

I hope that helps
Ian

Preston is very close to Lytham where Depronman lives. Perhaps he'll be along to offer to help with the OSS and offer an expert opinion on your best course of action.

Already replied with a pm. Tapatalk was being iffy and would not let me reply to the thread yesterday. It’s fixed itself now
