Can highly reccomend Toyo PROXES T1-S 185/50 R16 81V available from mytyres.co.uk for £52.80 each. Excellent top of the range tyre which has been reccomended to me by a friend who runs them on his Lotus Elise. Local garage charges £10 per tyre to fit, which at £62.80 per tyre is great for such a good tyre.

I have recently used mytyres.co.uk, unlike you I went for the Kumho KH11 185/50 R16 V again very cheap considering, £58.80 and £10 to fit.

After reading the AutoExpress tyre test Iam glad I did,
Kumho 6th
Mich 9th (as fitted on ours from new)
Toyo 15th
Yes I know the tyre is not the same size but it gives an indication.
Seems very good and only time will tell how long they last..

Just a word on mytyres.co.uk, I've managed to secure a discount with them of 3% for club members. I know it's not much, but it's better than a kick in the teeth! Details to follow shortly in the members marketplace. Assuming the discount is used, I'll hopefully be able to increase this discount in then future...

Just looking for tyres now. Currently have Dunlop fitted, but local independent fitter is struggling to get them as they are on back order - Kwikfit want £98 each and National want £126 both exc fitting! Ironically the independent can get as many Michelins as I want for £93 plus fitting!!

He can get Toyos so I may get some of these fitted - £70 each inc fitting and balancing.

Two Toyo's now fitted to front - similar tread pattern to the Dunlop. Not done much mileage to really test them, but no problems so far. This monsoon weather we are currently having will test the wet weather handling!

Just taken a set of Toyo's off, they did 24K and got dangerously low on thread but even in the wet they stuck to road in good fashion. just replaced them with a set of Nankang 215/40/17's and picked them up for under £40 each plus vat plus fitting.

Nankangs - had a pair of them on my last car - £26+VAT a piece!!!! but only lasted around 6k though.

Have Nankang's fitted at the moment (205/40/17). Grip seems very good, but I too have heard that they tend to wear out very quickly. Nice and cheap to replace though. Had Toyo's fitted to my last car which was a Peugeot 307xsi 'SP' which were purchased from Leigh Tyres. This place is even cheaper than mytyres.co.uk and advertise on ebay. Found Toyo's to be a cracking tyre in both dry and wet conditions.

do the Toyos have rim protectors on the 17" ones to stop me from scratching my da*ned front wheels! (plus the wife is learning to drive at the moment, grinnnnd).

Cheers

Yes, Toyo's have rim protection on the 17" versions. Very effective to, especially when the wife is parking!
