After a fabulous weekend last year and by very popular demand, I am pleased to confirm that we will be returning to Broaches Farm

https://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=10725

We have sole use of the site over the weekend, so although the camp site is normally adults only, children and dogs are welcome.

Camping isn't compulsory, but as we have the full site, we have set a car only fee. I'm pleased to confirm that prices remain unchanged from last year

Prices

Caravan/Motorhome pitch with electric hook up - £18.50 per night (5 pitches available)

Non electric camping pitch - £15 per night (at least 10 pitches available, but could probably fit more in)

(Onsite camping is available on Friday night also)

Day visit only - £5 per car

Off Site accommodation – There is a Travelodge and Holiday Inn at Scotch Corner about 15 minutes’ drive from the site

Things to do

There will be a large barn available for anyone who wishes to work on their car. We are aware that some members do provide services and we are happy for anyone wishing to attend and offer their services to add to this thread to let people know that they are attending and the services you provide (please note that normal club rules apply in terms of services provided and A2OC does not accept any liability for any losses or damages from the use of services provided by another member – full rules around member services can be found here)

In addition to loving our A2s. there is a huge amount to do in the area:-

  • Visit the Bowes Museum
  • Ravenseat Farm Tearoom (Location of the TV Series Our Yorkshire Farm
  • Drive around the Dales with stops for photos
  • Richmond Castle
We will develop a schedule of events for the weekend and hope that you will be able to join us for the weekend or even just a day. I will be arriving Friday night so will be around for anyone wishing to pitch up then.

Booking

If you would be interested in attending, please complete the RSVP above, and indicate whether you would prefer;

Caravan – electric hook up

Caravan/camping – non electric

Bed and breakfast

Car only

We will collate the preferences and then liaise directly to allocate slots. We will need to take payment in advance and I will collate that nearer the time,, but this will be refundable in the event that we have to cancel the weekend

With full credit to @Teresa, this was a very enjoyable event last year, and it sounds even better this time. So without any hesitation, we're in 👍

We've actually already got the week off leading up to that weekend, so we'll be able to come up on the Friday so as not to miss any of the fun :) Since we'll have been out in the campervan during the week, we'll bring the yellow Storm for the weekend, and stay at the Travelodge.

Just a thought, I wonder if we can get a request to the local farmer not to spread the ermmm, organic fertiliser on the neighbouring field just beforehand? I guess it was just the luck of the wind direction that made it such a feature last year

Morning Teresa,

Thank you for all you do in the background pulling these events together. We really enjoyed this social last year. Unfortunately we have another commitment which may clash with this but it’s not yet confirmed. I’ll register for a provisional yes for the whole family in 2x A2s, just like before.

Kind regards,

Tom

If you're thinking of booking into a Travelodge for this social, I might be able to to save you some research.

There are two at or near Scotch Corner, with not much to choose between them. But there's another one a little further up the A1M in Sedgefield: while it's 18-20 miles further away from Broaches Farm than the two local ones, that's only about 20 minutes extra driving each way, and it's currently about £40 cheaper for a double room across the two nights Friday-Saturday. Plus there's a nice-looking Indian restaurant/takeaway right next door for a dinner option on the Friday night.

Whichever Travelodge you choose, its only breakfast option will be an overpriced 'grab & go' pack which for us, doesn't even bear thinking about 🤢 But en-route to Broaches Farm there's Mainsgill Farm shop & cafe, right on the A66 not far before the first turning for Dalton, which opens at 9am and has a very tempting breakfast menu :)

Hi Teresa,
definitely in for Saturday night and will take advantage of on-site B&B at £85,do I need to book direct or will you take care of that?
Thanks for organising.
Any news if Tom (Timmus) will be there?
kind regards
Brendan

I am fairly sure @timmus is unavailable for this one, I'm sure he will confirm this himself

Evening Teresa,

Just edited our registration. Have since decided to treat the family to a masonry structure so will book a hotel in the Richmond area. Also we have a close friend who works at Bowes Museum so will investigate if we can get any perks over and above their group booking entrance fee, maybe an A2 lineup at the buildings entrance?

Edit: Travelodge Scotch Corner Booked.

Kind regards,

Tom

Indeed, I shan’t be able to attend this one. I had hoped to attend, as I had a great time last year. I would have offered a ‘Timmus clinic’ (as seems to be forum parlance) just like last year, but the event is happening whilst I’m away in Central Europe.

I hope everyone has a great time.

Cheers,

Tom

Hi Teresa, last years event was great, I thoroughly enjoyed it. We’ll be staying off-site but intend coming both days. I’m looking forward to meeting A2 friends old and new!

Hi everyone. we are only a few days away, so here are the provisional details for the weekend, which will now, very sadly, include Spike's funeral on the Friday

Saturday morning - meet at campsite from 9.30 ( Dalton, Richmond, North Yorkshire, DL11 7HW) for catch up and A2 nattering.
Around 11 ish head off on Dales drive (like last time, but include a few park ups for photos on the way round)
Around 12 - 12.30 Lunch at the CB Inn (Menu Attached as PDF)
Saturday afternoon - rest of Dales drive, ending up in Richmond. Parking at Market Place and visiting Richmond Castle
Saturday evening - Plan to have early ish dinner in Richmond.
Sunday morning, meet at campsite around from 9.30. 10.30 leave to drive to Bowes Museum to visit.
Sunday lunch - Can either have informal lunch there, or I can book Rokeby Inn

To gather numbers, and food preferences, I have developed another one of my forms. Please could you complete this as soon as possible, particularly if you are planning on joining group meals as I will need to confirm numbers fairly soon.

You can find the form HERE If you have any problems, please do let me know. Could I also ask you you to check your registration as I think there may be some people registered who can no longer make it and other people attending who may have missed the registration (i have now reopened it) Thank you Teresa
