Hi to one and all, I joined just over 12 months ago and the site has been fun to use very informative and A2 ownership is a joy. We now have 2, both tdi 75's, an se and a sport. I have read all manner of threads but 'modding' seems to want to get hold of me. I want to start with a sport leather interior but so rare. I have contacted a car dealer and he will swap the seats for £800, the highest price I have seen offered yet. Any ideas?

Hello and welcome. Not quite sure what you mean in the above quote? Does this dealer you speak of have access to sports leather A2 interior and will exchange your current interior for £800?? If so - that's probably the high side of a fair deal.

If its a full retrim you / they are speaking of in quality anywhere near OEM for that money - I think thats a pretty good price. I have had a few quotes and nothing reputable is much shy of £1200.

Hi Murdo, this is a car dealer who is willing to take the very good interior out of a sale vehicle, and swop for mine, not a retrim. He does say that removing the leather will seriously devalue his car, which I suppose is a fair point. I know that seats do become available from time to time the last ones had bench rears which would be no good for me. is it worth waiting, I have only just started looking. What is a good price? Thanks, I really don't want to over-invest as there are more ideas brewing.

A leather Sport interior, for sale on its own, is a very, very rare thing. Many a member has been looking for such a thing for literally years.
I have a cloth Sport interior and have decided that I will eventually have it re-trimmed. It will cost me £1200+, but it'll be new and it'll be exactly how I want it. I went through a phase of asking dealerships to swap with me, but they invariably refused to even consider the idea.
SE leather is likely to cost you at least £500, so I suppose the question boils down to whether you're happy to pay £800 for the Sports. Have you considered haggling for the whole car?

Tom

Hi Tom, I decided I was happy to pay, turned up at the dealers, car was sold. I guess that your idea of a retrim is a good one, new and what you want. I will look into it when my current seats wear. Thanks for the advice.

Mike
