New 6 speed gearbox method - passat '11 onwards MYP gearbox

Hey, guys.
A stupid question here.
Is a MYP gearbox always the MYP gearbox or do they have modifications according to cars they are installed in?
If it is an MYP it is an MYP of identical specification whether in a Golf or a Passat. Same with PTU, NTG and PTW regardless of the vehicle it is installed in (Golf, A3 etc).

There were a couple of posts in the 6-gear threads a year or two back that insinuated variations in specification for gearboxes with the MYP code in different vehicles but I'm reasonably certain that was a mistake as I've not been able to identify differences in spec in the 7zap pages - and consequently it is a myth that needs to be bust rather than propagated.

Correct Robin, a MYP is a MYP (or a PTU or a NTG) - for our purposes all three are identical regardless of source (and practically speaking, interchangeable with each other).

The PTW as you well know, is identical externally and in terms of fitting, but with longer ratios that make it slightly better-suited to urban environments in particular in my opinion - and is therefore the one to have if presented with a choice.

Any of the four codes is a huge upgrade to high speed driving mind
