New A2 1.4 TDi owner

Have admired these cars for some time and having been an avid Audi driver for the best part of 15 years, have finally got myself one as a little runaround for when I'm out in Spain. It's a 'Style' model first registered in May 2005, which I assume makes it amongst the final run? Mileage was an unbelievable 87,000 km, and it looks like it has just rolled out of the showroom...I've managed to put around 1k km on that in the first week of ownership, but it's tucked away now until my next trip. I've seen many of these with 200k km+ and even some with 300k km, a testament to how sturdy that little engine is. Although it doesn't have the same punch as my A6 3.0 TDi Le Mans, it's certainly no slouch!

Great little icon of a car....love it.

I think 'Style' was one of the Euro specs and wasn't used in the UK. It's super basic in terms of spec, which is fine for my needs (shops, beach, to/fro from airport etc.). Electric windows front + electric mirrors, no electric windows in the rear. Single bench seat in the rear - is that meant to come out fully? I couldn't get it to, but did manage to flip the whole bench forwards so it rests against the front seats and got my new 55" TV (boxed) in sideways at the weekend with just 1" of legroom reduction for me in the front (I'm 6'2")! Cloth seats, climate control (delivers a nice chill whilst it's 30C+ outside), what looks like an after-market head unit (can't recall the model now) and only speakers in the front. No sunroof. Normal keys (x 2) with no remote (guessing there isn't a remote module fitted to the car), central locking and I suspect alarm (red diode flashes near the drivers door lock/window. Boot has a false floor with spare wheel and sliding boot cover.

Alloys look like aluminium and I think it's on 15s...ride isn't too harsh.

Other than that...not sure what else to report. The only thing that doesn't look like it came out of the factory is the head unit.

Looks beautiful paintwork is there no lacquer Peel ..it’s quite common on the red a2s ..if theres not you look like you have a little cracker well done ..they are very addictive ?

Looking good, can only imagine it has spent its life under cover if it's avoided laquer peel. Yes, base euro spec was minus remote locking. Yes, they're 15" wheels, nice and light and in surprisingly good condition.
Welcome to A2OC, where are you (roughly)?

No lacquer peel whatsoever. The red looks rich, like it would from new. I know how bad red suffers in places like Spain so can only assume this has been kept under cover most of its life. It's a one owner car and only did 2k km in the first year and a further 2k km in its second year! It has some service history, including dealer stamps up to about 30k km and then some independent garage paperwork since.

yes the bench seats comes out, buts it rather heavy, a two person job for sure
I couldn't for the life of me work out how they come out...at approx. what angle does the seat need to be in order to remove it? Having got the seat all the way forward to 90 degree upright against the front seats I guess it has to be tilted back a fair amount for the metal loops to pass over the hooks in the chassis. Is there another lever that needs to be pulled to allow for the removal (aside from the centre-bottom lever that allows the forward tilt)?

I'm in the Newcastle area but the car lives in north Almeria province (underground garage), where I visit often.

seat up at about 75 deg, pull bottom of seat towards back of car and the hook will clear, repeat on other side, then lift seat up out of the hook area (ideally with two people), then slide out of the rear door (carefully). I normally get it half way out then the second person climbs into the rear foot well and lifts the seat again, then once its outside and clear of the door the second person exits the car and helps with the weight
I have done it single handed but would not recommend it :)

Cheers,
Paul

I'm going to attempt removing the back seat this weekend as I want to get some Ikea furniture in there. A quick question - If I remove the back seat will the front passenger seat fall perfectly flat enabling a long package of say 200cm x 100cm x 60cm to enter, or is that too much of a tight squeeze?

I've loked on http://www.audia2museum.de/23.html but can't quite work out if I'll manage this and I'm not with the car at the moment to do more close-up measurements.

No salt probably explains that

I think it will fit, just. The problem is the 60cm width means it just sits over the handbrake when lying flat, but that might not bother you. Better on its edge but you will have provision for keeping it upright.

Thanks for the reply. I think the package is closer to 190x95x55 so a little more room to wiggle. Will see how I get on...removing the seat will be the first challenge!
