New A2 owner. Lots of jobs to do....

Thanks located and removed pollen filter. Easy enough . Just a bit of a wriggle to get the filter out and back in with the plastic surround in place. Guess what it was filthy !!

Ive just replaced mine and it was also filthy, glad it's done though.

Thanks everyone for the encouragement and helpful info.
like Audifan says it’s a list to divide into three groups .
im starting with the basics of making sure it’s safe and not going to fail dramatically.

so it’s the coolant leak/potential overheating . Brakes . tyres, anything else I spot related to MOT fails.
ive checked the previous history so I know the advisories from last year
anyone else do that ? I always do it before I think about looking at a car.
Bonnet cover latch.
Serious clean inside and out.
all the other bits I can live with for the moment.
would like a Towbar though.
is there a place to advertise parts wanted on the forum ?
Worth checking the headgasket on early tdi's. There was a thread recently about issues with pressure overflow in the expansion tank. You must use a leak tester kit and don't rely on garages just pressure test the cylinders as the issues only seem to manifests under load. Just a thought if your having the cambelt done......

I’ve put it to the garage to diagnose . Just for ease but since there is uneven heat distribution in the hoses and no heat from heater and when the hot engine is allowed to stand it eventually leaks around the water pump area . I’m hoping I have got it right and it is water pump otherwise the job gets dearer and more difficult!

You have done well to find a tow bar as they are rare and cost a fortune normally!

There's a few bleed screws in the cooling system may be worth trying them first then a sniff test!

I am close to fitting my pepperpots on my Black A2, they seem to be in demand at the moment!

MY FRIEND I FACE A SAME PROBLEM I END WATER IN THE ENGINE EVERY TWO DAYS I ALLWAYS SEARCH FOR LEAKS BUT NOTHING

Sadly it was the head gasket and so the car has moved on . I’ve got another one though . See other posts and pic. I’ve learnt a lot about A2s in a short space of time much of it with the help of experience forum members so thanks to everyone who has helped.

It’s gone to another forum member. They knew about the fault before as well .
