New A2 Sport owner

Just tried to upload a larger picture and failed. Looks like your problem is picture size.

Found an app in App Store that is free, quick and easy to use called 'Simple Resize'. Used it to down size the picture and the upload worked, but I have not included it as I guess nobody would be interested in my two grandchildren.

The offer of further help still stands if you need it.

So I went advanced and chose the file, then nothing happens, the pop up window just remains on the screen and everything behind is greyed out. What to do?

Just added a post that might help. Best to PM me for more help if this does not work so as not to clog up the activity stream.

Hi,

Welcome to the forum, lots of interesting information and helpful people on here so you are in the right place. I would be interested to know what insurance quotes you get for your son on the A2 as I have a daughter who is about the same age and we live in the same area as you. Got a 1.6 FSI and 1.4 in the family right now.

Cheers Duncan

I had one quote that was £70 odd per month but that was with the car in my missus name and him able to drive it as a provisional driver. I haven't had any quotes yet for once he has passed his test.

So now I've worked out how to add pictures here we go,

Car as bought:

New Mintex disc's and pads:

New KYB springs, shocks and Audi spring seats/bump stops:

Like the blue, which is it? & the new hardware - looks a nice A2.

Back to the picture problem. I am a bit lost as you posted 3 pictures. Are the failed uploads from another different camera/device? If you are still using your IPad did you try my suggestion above of using the app 'Simple Resize' I suggested in post #21 - it worked for me and makes a reduced copy leaving your original untouched if that concerns you.

We will sort it in the end, don't give up, pictures make such a difference.

It's Azur blue.
The pictures were uploaded on a WIN 7 PC, these were the only ones I could do as the others are over 3Mb each, which seems to be the limit.
I want to show of the wheels, but can't with this limit.

Hi Kleynie,

I post-process my photos using Adobe Lightroom before uploading to reduce the file size. There is a selection of open-source alternatives to resize photos and then some on Windows. Hope this helps.

Google search link for Lightroom alternatives:

Try hosting them on another site like cubeupload or imagr and then pasting the image lonks into your reply on here.

I can also recommend https://www.flickr.com/ Have used it for years and I think you get 1TB free storage now (or something large anyway) and the mobile app can auto backup your pictures if thats how you take them.

Imgur is a little easier to post from though.

I will check on Windows 7, but I think if you open (File tab) [top left] your picture with Paint (buried in Accessories within All Programs on Start menu), you can simply reduce it by grabbing (click and hold down mouse key - sorry to be pedantic but I have no idea of your IT skill level) and dragging the bottom right corner towards the middle. Let go of mouse key and click on File menu (top left) and use Save As to make a reduced size copy of your image with a different name, say 'mini xyz'. Exit Paint (if it asks 'Save Changes?) say NO to keep original image unaltered. You now have an image that you can post and we can all enjoy!

I am quoting too much from memory and need to check these instructions tomorrow. Apologies if this is over detailed.

We will win in the end. - Andy

There is a "Resize" menu option in Microsoft Paint.
Resize.png

Just enter 50 (or more if your file size is larger than 2 meg.) in the top size field and it reduces the size of the file by that %

Resize 2.PNG

That's much better then. Only used paint for 10 minutes in my life and was only trying to give an immediately at hand alternative to third party hosting and it was late. These sites worry me as you lose ownership of images - just look at the photobucket fiasco and how many past helpful forum threads are now ruined.

Hopefully it it will be a thing of the past with the forum software upgrade.

PS. Can I put in a plea for a draft facitily when writing posts in the new software. I am getting fed up of losing long posts.

It just struck me you often see a "auto save" pop up when writing a post but does anybody know where it saves them to and how to get it back?

Not sure where it saves it, but if you come out of the post then click on reply again it offers you a button to restore the text, not always due to timing etc. but it has been a huge relief when I have "lost" some posts part way through.

Thanks a lot, I will look for the restore button next time it happens. - Andy
