I recently bought a2 its in good condition except the alloys which I'm unsure if they are original and more to the point I want to go smaller due to tyre prices, also there are signs or rubbing in the arch and a broken coil spring, it's done 105k 1.4 petrol is there anything I should look out for it has full service history and cambelt was replaced at 80k it's has a little rattle from the top of the engine anyone know any possible answers? (It's very very faint but I know it's there)

The wheels are not original, they are from an Audi TT. I actually quite like them as they suit the A2. Budgets in 205/40/17 shouldn't be any more expensive than 15s/16s because they are a common size.

The 1.4 petrol can be a little rattly from the top end, especially if it's only ever done short journeys so may well be nothing.

I do like the look of the wheels although they need a refurb I'm just concerned about the rubbing on the arches but could be due to the fact the coil broke once I replace them I will see what clearance I have, they are currently on 215/40 zr 17s

Also would like a set of 15s or 16s if anyone has a set for sale or swap

That tyre pictured is a 225/45 hence the rubbing. As steve said 205/40 is what you want.
But i agree about the smaller wheels and did the same when i got my A2 with 17s on. Visually it may not look as good but i spend substantially more time driving it than looking at it.
