Hi,

There does seem to be some confusion.

Thi is a vote for a logo not for stickers etc.

We will be making sure that we have a full range of items with the logo on.

SO yes, stickers that will fit the side windows, also with the Club details URL on etc.

So this should just be seen as a vote about if we change the logo.

We will have a full range of items that you can buy, side stickers, rear window stickers, clothing, flags, the web site, cards (to leave on A2s spotted around the place) Etc Etc.

In other words what we have now plus a lot more.

If you are not sure of anything please do ask?

Thanks

Hi,

This is a vote for a logo not for stickers etc.

I wasn't confused. A logo has to have a purpose, convey a brand image, produce an emotional response. It needs to be both aesthetically pleasing (what is aesthetic will be different for different people, so not everyone will be pleased) and practical, working across different communications channels and media.

Practical issues include reproduction on different materials and at different sizes from A0 flags to A6 paper or 32" PC screens to 5" phone screens; colour and black and white; different background, reversal; print vs electronic media.

It's not easy but I think less is usually more, which is why I think the A2OC-line Badge style in red/white looks clean and bold.

Thread bump.

We really value your opinion folks - lots of views, but not all are represented on the poll. Please do have your say.

Hi All,

Sorry for the late response, been away a while and not really kept up to date with the logo re-design.

I'm all for progressive change, but I'm just not sure that the A2 in 3/4 pose works so strong as a logo. Maybe there are too many lines, I don't know.

But with an outline, I feel like less is more: this car is known for it's aerodynamics, so a sweeping curve over the car emphasises it's key design feature.

I appreciate a lot of time and effort has gone into this, so thanks to the team who have produced this. I just feel that simplifying the car to work with the text has worked so well on other A2 logos I have seen.

Hi
thanks for taking the time to explain your view, that is what we want.

But iif we come up with a logo that is similar to others that "work so well" isn't that a problem? Wouldn't we be accused of copying or not having our own image?

Shouldn't we have our own image?
I am sure that new logos are always a bit tricky to establish mainly because they are new. but as I say thanks fir that viewpoint

These are genuine questions that o am asking, and not criticism of your views. I just want to hear views from as many members as we can

Thanks

I agree. I voted for the original design because I think it is preferable that the logo would be consistent across all formats i.e. not to change between portrait/landscape to fit different products and therefore provide a recognisable brand.

Could argue that we could do with another poll option;

Yes I would like to change the club logo but don't like the current proposed new logo.

Personally I like the silouette style logos and as Alan said don't like the text cutting into the car shape.

Simon.

But the proposal is to do that anyway? One logo across all to give us a recognisable brand.

I can see that logic, but would people vote yes to a new logo if they don't know what it would look like?

We tried to find one that we could propose as an option and to be honest so many people said they like it we thought it worth asking .

We have several people who said they LIKE the way the text cuts into the car shape, so we are on a lose lose situation.

The current logo does not lend itself to the various formats we need to be able to use.
The current logo seems to be the "S-Line Badge" which is a very narrow format and only really suits a landscape layout.

The proposed logo seems to work with both.

And as I have said we will have a full range of items with the same logo on it (whether it is the old logo or the new one), including stickers, flags, keyrings, etc. etc. so this debate is not about the items we will use the logo on, it is about if we want the "new" logo on everything or the "old" logo on everything.

I know we have some people that don't like change or don't like the new logo, but if we are only allowed to do this if everyone likes the same logo we would be wasting people's time because that simply won't happen.

It is very difficult to please everyone, I hope that you all see that we are at least trying?

My point was we should have first had a poll do you wish to change the logo yes / no. If 'no' was the majority then that would have drawn a line under it, if yes was the majority then we could have had a seperate poll to choose the new logo.

I'm not against change and recognise that with this kind of thing you can never please everybody, I also think life is too short to get too upset about this kind of thing and sometimes you just have to get on and live with the concensus :)

Simon

To be honest, if all iterations of logos are available for purchase and the one that's being worked on at the moment is fairly refined, then you can simply pick and choose what you want in your car anyway.

Also, I wasn't suggesting copying the outline idea, just stating that it has an elegant simplicity I like to see in logos. The proposed logo design is executed well enough, I suppose I'm just expecting too much.

Hi
i realise that you would never suggest a copy. But I thought it would be nice to have something that is not too similar to others.

One thing about the professionally produced logo we are talking about here is that it has been offered to us to use as and where we want for no cost. Saumart and his girlfriend we very pleased to be able to give something back to the club like this.

So we don't have to purchase anything. We just need to decide if we want to use it as our logo and then look at all of the possibilities for stickers, web site, clothing etc etc.

It seened very sensible that if we have had a logo professionally produced for us free of charge we should ask if it could become the new A2OC logo?

Thanks all for voting and your opinion.
For the record I'd like to say that there are some space to make some minor design corrections if it is going to be approved.

As about the contour line logo there are at least two of them (which I know) with such design (I do really like this idea a lot): the german a2 forum https://a2-freun.de/forum/, club in netherlands http://www.audi-a2.nl/ but I think A2 OC deserves something a bit different, not all a2 clubs must have a contour line logo..

We all have different taste, but logo should represent in our case an A2, which is with all those lines, and bits and bumps..I guess.

Just my 2p.

Cheers everyone.

Hi

by the way if you are viewing this on Tapatalk then you might not see the voting buttons.
If that is the case and you want to vote then please either switch to the desktop version or post a reply with your vote and we will add it into the numbers.

But it ideally please vote using the buttons.

Thanks

dont members make life difficult at times :p lol

its a shame we didnt have more sketch/designs for choosing but i have to agree with alan-uk about the car a2oc cutting into the car and with darkhorse stating that there is too many lines - less is more!

i cant really add anything else to this as i wouldve said similar but good luck to whatever the final outcome is :) this is not an easy change after so many years. look what happened when GAP changed their logo a few years back, customers were quick to dislike it and GAP reverted back to their old logo and as the saying goes "if it aint broke dont fix it!"

maybe some minor tweaks with the current one is all thats needed but i will leave it to the professionals :D

The flag is an option if we have to have a square one. But it is the others that are the logo we are voting on.
