New aquisition

Well we've had our A2 for 2 weeks, so I thought I'd post with a couple of Q's..

It's the first diesel car I've owned, so apologies if this is common knowledge, but what is it supposed to tick over at? Ours ticks over at 1000 rpm...

Has anyone else noticed how easy it is to mark the inside door covers - especially the top part next to the window? It seems I just have to touch it and I leave a mark. It comes off OK with a bit of a wipe with a damp cloth, but worrying all the same...

It's a 90PS 1.4 diesel Sport, by the way, in Akoya with blue seats and a rear bench. 5 month old ex-demo from a dealer. No spare wheel though, just the can of sealant.

Only problem I found so far is the steering wheel, which isn't quite straight - it drives me crazy...[13]

On average we get 47mpg and we already did 900 miles!

I think it's great and the other half absolutely adores it!

Congratulations on a great engine choice! Mine still impresses even after 12 months & 23k miles - great torque and civilised m/way cruising more than compensate for it's vocal nature round town.

Mine also ticks over at a relatively fast 1000 rpm - having driven a few I reckon it's normal.

Can't offer a solution to marks on the door cappings - it's a forum subject that was aired many moons ago - very abrasive texture to the plastic I'm afraid.

Audi steering wheels are perfectly aligned from the factory and I would be keen to find out why yours isn't- any sign of abuse evident (uneven tyre wear, particularly kerbed front alloys) or can dealer explain if/why steering wheel has been off?

Regards

I really like my 90PS too.....fantastic torque puts many other diesels to shame.
Mine also ticks over at 1000rpm, hot or cold.
I've had mine 7 months now and done 14k miles, with the engine loosened up nicely, though the gearbox can feel a little notchy at times, but since I do mostly motorway miles, maybe this will imrove with a few more miles.
My average mpg is about 60, so I;m guessing your 47 is because you do quite a bit of twon driving?
My black interior marks too....I can't offer any advice, sorry, other than regular cleaning :(

Hi guys!
Re the steering wheel - I went through this with my TT - the tracking can affect the position of the wheel to an amazing extent - my TT pulled to the left like all Audis - the technician adjusted it and then the wheel wasn't straight. I had to go back and get them to adjust so that the wheel was straight as well. It only took 3 goes!!! At the moment the A2 tracks pretty straight so I'm not rushing to the dealer just yet. No sign of damage that I can see.

Average mileage - 60mpg! Wow!. We've done a few long trips, but it mostly gets stuck in traffic, which I guess brings the average down. It's a whole lot better than the TT in any case, which averages 28.... :-(

Our 75PS averages about 51mpg - town driving and short journeys ( The auxilliary heater took it down to 47mpg!!! Better than shivering though... And guess what, wonky steering too - tracking was reset but I guess more attention is needed.

Press the ECON button :)

Re: 60mpg, I'm satisfied with that, but with my rose tinted specticles on I was hoping for nearer 65, as in the manual.

Actually your 90PS models may have the electric aux. heater - which may be more economic than my diesel burning one - see other posts on this!
