EF MAX,

I assume you know what size the original fit speakers are, could you please tell me? as I would like to upgrade them, I don't want to run an amp and sub this time around. I would also like to know you recommendation for speakers for the A2.

Thank you

I am still awaiting delivery of my A2, so I have been popping down to m local Audi dealer for sorting things out.

At first glance I think the stock speakers in the A2 are either 100mm or 130mm, much more likely to be 130mm.

I shall just be taking the original door card off and rebuilding a completely new card for my front speakers. I have no choice on this as my speakers are certainly not stock equipment.

I have already built the rack housing the amps and processors so that it slots straight into the boot lower floor space.

The bass box was built last year and that sits straight on top of the amp rack and slides up against the back seat..

As for speaker recommendations for the A2 as a straight replacement, then this comes down to budget. If you keep the standard Head Unit then improvements are small, but if you are thinking of adding additional amplification that improvements are much bigger.

For example, just changing the speakers for some better ones say for about £100, but with leaving the HU as stock might show an improvement of about 15%.

BUT,, leave the standard speakers in place and add some amplification for a cost of the same £100 would yield an improvement of about 25%.

If you do both then you can expect a major improvement,, all other things being equal.

When it comes to choosing speakers you really need to listen before you buy. This is not always possible or practical,, so be guide by your wallet and common sense and not sales hype.

I have been informed that you can install 6" speakers (160mm) into the front and rear doors of the A2, all you need is an adaptor ring.

Would this be right?

I've decided that if I am going to change the speakers than I may as well use the amp I've already got and get the best out of them..

Purchase of and installation of speakers front and rear, amp under/in passenger footwell + cables £400

Think its got to be done!!!

I do not know if this is right or not, I can not see any reason why not. I am actually having my whole door redone so as I can house 2x 175mm bass, 1x 50mm mids , 1x 25mm tops into each door, so I will attack this situation in a different way.. sadly for me that little job is going to cost me £500 just for having the doors rebuilt to my own spec..
