Our 18 month old A2 has started to randomly alert ABS and traction control failure (5-6 times every 100 miles, sometimes lasting for 10-15 miles). Our local Audi dealer is looking into it, however, they seem a little lost and are now contacting Audi UK for advice.

Has anybody else experienced similar problems?? Any ideas??

My dealer assures me that both systems are functioning correctly and the error is caused by a "lost signal" it still does not overfill you with confidence!!!

The traction control and esp on my A2 are great, I have tested them on lonely roundabouts and have been extreemly impressed. Passengers have noted how unintrusive it feels to them. It should not show warning lights unless there is a problem. I would request a demo till they have fixed it as it could be a safety concern.

The light flashes as the system works Phil.

This was a fault identified regularly with cars of the 18mo to 2yr vintage, and appears to be faulty pitch and yaw sensors - mine were replaced (1st in the country I believe!), by Wayside Audi in MK and I have known others have the same fault fixed since. Incidnetally mine only lasted 160miles before this occurred and they just kept the car til it was fixed.

Hi Maersk,

I assumed the failure light was a different one to the flashing encouragement I get from my dashboard when cornering quickly.

If not I stand corrected, the light should flash regularly.

I have just had the same problem with the lights coming on. My TDI is 18 months old and upon returning the vehicle to the dealer they said that moisture in the sensor has caused the problem??
They reset the faults and touch wood the warning lights have not come on since.

cheers

Mark.

All fixed after 3 weeks of in and out of the garage and many lone A2's. Solution was to repace the ABS control unit which at first was intermitantly missing returns and then just totally died:(.

Anyway got it back now and it doing fine!:)!!

PS. Five Lone A2's in 3/4 weeks (3xTDi and 2x Petrol) and every one had a new set of rattles, how do they do it!! Still having driven the TDi for a couple of weeks I think my next A2 will probably be a TDi!!

Andy,

Its good to know that your problem has been resolved, however from your practical experiences I guess you will be better able to equate to those who complain about inconsistencies in quality of production of the A2.

The only other issue which I would clarify is that providing a problem can be efficiently rectified without argument, then I figure such problems should not be making A2 owners feel suicidal. Its certainly taken your dealer a long time to resolve the problem (3 weeks), and its as well that they do not man the pits for a F1 racing car, however at least you have not been fed any garbage – so that’s one blessing.
