Hi all, new member here, not new to A2's and have got lots of info from here from various searches so thanks to all for that.

I've got 2 A2's, a 2004 TDI90 and a 2001 TDI75. The 75 i got for free as a non runner, got it running with a quick root at the injector loom and got it home. The paint is rough and it has only a basic spec. Will keep it around as a parts car.

The 90 I bought for €700, its in fantastic condition with approx 160k miles and a good spec. Leather seats, DIS, cruise, air con and very very clean body and interior. All the sundries in the boot are untouched, even the original first aid kit, tyre inflation kit, compressor etc, all looks like the day it rolled out of the factory. It may even still have the original battery!

I've just finished a complete suspension overhaul and general service. New shocks, springs, shock mounts, wishbones, new wheel bearing housings and bearings, all arb stuff, outer cv joints, tie rods, brakes, splash guards, calipers etc. Timing belt and water pump, all oils and fluids, except gearbox, need to order that. Few other bits and bobs done aswell and its looking and feeling like a new car. I've probably spent about €800 on that lot mostly sourced from Autodoc in Germany.

I've put a set of TT alloys that I refurbished on it for now until I refurb the original RS4 style alloys that came with it.

My fuel filter drain plug snapped on removal so I will have to contact the member here who sells the mod version.

Other than all that my only other things on the to do list is to sort an armrest, which one I'm still undecided. I don't really like any of the available aftermarket ones and would much prefer to integrate an A4/A6 style one. I'll also be looking into a double din android headunit if I can find or make a decent fascia trim piece to fit the A2.

Thanks for reading.

Welcome aboard :) That's a lot of work but it sounds like you've now got a cracking A2 in return for your effort.

For the fuel filter drain plug and to get a lead on both points of your future plans, you need to contact @depronman, engineer & 3D-printing guru extraordinaire ? He was greatly involved in a project last year to produce mounts for the A6 armrest.

Thanks all, here's a few pictures. Still have a few jobs to do around engine bay so its still stripped back a bit.

Old belt still look reasonably fresh, supposedly around 30k miles on it according to history.

Brand new looking behind the wheels, flexi brake lines are about the only thing to survive from the old setup. I put 195/45 tyres on the 7J TT alloys, gives it a small stretched look.

The stuff in the boot is immaculate, looks like it was never disturbed. Very unusual for a used car in Ireland, usually you'd be lucky to get the locknut key. Car came in here from the UK a few years ago, hence the complete overhaul underneath, we don't seem to suffer the same rot and rust here on original Irish cars, UK cars tend to have that reputation of rot and rust here, I guess that's down to how ye treat the roads in winter but I dont know really.

Trying to put more pictures but keeps telling me files are too large no matter what I try to upload, maybe I've reached the limit or something?

Thanks depronman, I'll be in touch with you for the drain plug and fascia, thanks for the offer.

Trying to upload 2.64mb picture, still saying too large... Anyway it was only a picture of the boot area and a picture of the 75 partsmobile left

Welcome to A2OC
That’s a lovely TDI 90 you have there. If you don’t mind me asking, what are the best websites in Ireland for viewing used A2 cars for sale? Thank you, Dave

Hi Dalibu, there are only two websites that you would find older used cars in Ireland, donedeal.ie and adverts.ie. Donedeal would be far and away the most popular website for used cars in Ireland. That being said, you could probably count on 2 hands the amount of A2's that would come up for sale each year.

FYI the current site file limit is 2.5Mb, eight per post. It was previously 3Mb and I think 10 per post but a forum software update last year revised that.
