New member from Wirral

Hi,

I bought our A2 at the end of last year, mainly for the fuel economy. It's a great shape and seating position.
1.4 TDI 75ps Sport 120k
It is a bit tatty, scratched paintwork and scuffed alloys, I have already done a couple of jobs, center section of exhaust replaced, broken front spring replaced.
Looks like it has had a hard life, but hopefully I am improving that now.

It has just passed the MOT with flying colours, no jobs required.
However, on the diagnostics report there is an intermittent fault with the ABS pump and module, the garage have said I need to get a second hand replacement and it has to be the exact part number for pump and module, so I would appreciate any advise from you all on this?

Any other Wirral owners on here?

Cheers,

Phil.

Welcome to the forum and to the pleasures of A2 ownership!
Can I Suggest you get a full VCDS scan done to pin point exactly what is wrong. I am in Altrincham but am away from home work in until the 22nd. I am sure there are others nearer who have an Audi scanner.
A good indie is Awesome in Machester.

Maybe now when I wave at an A2 on the Wirral, I'll get a wave back! Looks good.
Blue Colour Storm but off the road at the moment unfortunately - my MOT is rapidly approaching, hoping that I'll be able to use your words afterwards!
Can't offer any advice on your fault I'm afraid. If replies / advice isn't forthcoming, try posting in the "servicing and repairs" forum; a lot of knowledgeable members on here willing to help!
Cheers,
Tom.

Thanks Tom. The car is often driving around Prenton.
Looks like you have done some nice modifications, I look forward to seeing it on the road.

Hi Phil,

Welcome to the forum! :)

That looks a nice car that you have. I live fairly near to you, a few miles from Chester on the Wirral side and have use of VCDS. I'm not sure what else could be revealed by using it, but if you need a diagnostic scan again or to use VCDS, feel free to PM me. I'll keep an eye out for your car, I have a black TDI and frequent the Cheshire Oaks area on weekdays. :p

Regards,

Matt.

Thanks Matt,
Good to hear from you.
I could certainly do with some help to interpret the results of the VCDS. I will drop you a message, cheers :)

Hello,

I met Phil last night so that we could scan his A2 using VCDS and try and find the cause of his ABS issue. Phil, it was good to meet you; a great car you have.

VCDS revealed two faults relating to the ABS; with one being in the engine controller and one in the ABS controller. As Phil has posted above, the ABS controller contained a DTC reporting that the ABS module is faulty, on an intermittent basis. Similarly, the engine controller reported that there were no communications with the ABS module, again on an intermittent basis. Unfortunately, I forgot to save a copy of the results. We cleared the faults and they didn't come back over a 5 mile test drive. We checked the ABS module connector for signs of ingress and corrosion, but the internal pins were clean and dry. Ultimately, the question is, what do you think is causing this? Could it a poor connection somewhere in the wiring, or is it likely to be the ABS module that is actually faulty?

We had a good look at the rest of Phil's car, and it seems a nice example. Hopefully we may see Phil at a social! :)

Regards,

Matt.
