It would be a big advantage if you can get the car scanned before you decide. Thanks for all your interesting responses, the guy has an obd2 scanner and the only code returned is P0404 exhaust gas recirculation? body is very good only a couple of stone chip size spots, interior looks like new! engine sounds a bit 'busy' compared to my 2.3 volvo but seems to go well enough! Big issue is lack of recent service history and long overdue cambelt pointing to a bit of neglect? I may look into that further with the guy but equally may walk away!

Mac, yes I've checked the mot history and it looks good, only one failure and that was last year, but folk have moved the car on quite quickly over the years, 6 previous owners! Bit of vibration through the pedals in first and second, is that normal?

Why not include a VCDS Scan (attach it as a txt file perhaps) in your ad?
It would give potential buyers confidence in the car, and you.

Instinct tells me something is not right, - fully sorted 90k FSI in good nick should fetch lot more than £600, but with the EGR fault declared and no FSH maybe the price is not ridicous. Have a VCDS scan, post it here, before deciding, cheaper scanners do not show everything. My FSI has no vibration in pedals, that is very worrying.

To be honest bud I wouldn’t even waste my time scanning it with VCDSand the potential problems keep rolling in!
I'll see if any members locally have VCDS but get the feeling I'll be walking!
