New member yet to buy looking for some nurture lol

Ok so tomo is hopefully the day.... Maybe.

I'm looking at 2 a2s tomo, the first is a 2002 1.4 se pano roof 90k bit of history decent condition ect £1950

The second is an 2002 fsi se good condition, 110k loads done, cambelt coil pack exhaust manifold servo or whatever it is. £2000

If both cars were equal what would you choose? Is it down to personal preference? I like the sound of the working panoramic roof (or a paramedic roof as my boy calls it) but the roof adds weight and ive heard the 1.4 petrol is gutless

By gutless does this mean it really is gutless, I'm not a boy racer anymore but my misses 1.2 Clio is terrible.

The fsi is a private seller and the 1.4 se is a dealer, so is the fsi over priced slightly?

Also my other question was how much difference are the insurance groups? Ive noticed the tax is the same bracket and mpg is simular.

Really sorry for leaching even more info, and thanks in advance.

.

No way is it gutless. A nicely running 1.4 is fine and I would even go as far as to say they are nippy.

The 1.6 is a flyer but the 1.4 will not feel like you are driving a slow car.

I recently hired a Fiat 500 and THAT was much slower than a 1.4 A2. Or at least it certainly felt like it was.

Thanks again, hopefully will be posting a nice pic sometime tomo. Veiwing the 1.4 first, ive just noticed its missing a parcel shelf and one of the rear window winders is missing a cover, but other than that it's really straight. I prefer the thought of the 1.4 because it has the pano sunroof.

The panoramic roof ('OpenSky') is great. Even if it doesn't work, or if only the first section of it opens like on my car, it still floods the car with light. Good luck with these two and I'll be interested, too, to hear which you like better.

Well i brought neither in the end, but I did buy a 2002 1.4tdi which i love. 120k climate control no dis, (which i miss) with decent audi dealer history for £2200.

Everyones help and advice has been brilliant but I couldn't steer away from £30 a year tax, decent mpg and low insurance group.

Ive read the post about top 3 upgrades already, and will have to look into a remap soon if theyre that good, and not a huge expense.

So pleased that you now have a nice A2.

The remap is (in my opinion) WELL worth the money, but get used to the car without it first so that you really appreciate the improvement.
