New owner from cornwall!

Hello.

Pleased i found this site, seems very helpful! already been searching alot and looked at a few bits and bobs concerning the new car.

we got a 2005 tdi (75) on a 54 plate (odd i know) in akoya silver.... 88k on the clock and were chuffed with it!

got a couple niggles but most things do and with our budget were happy with it!

few issues are

missing washer filler cap
sun visor clip snapped
drinks holder stuck in
missing fuse board cover
airbag light on (will get it scanned and see what it says, might be that the drivers seatbelt is very slow to return)
missing roller parcel shelf and false floor
gives a little screech from the starter just after the engine catches (sticking i tad i think)

other then that is spot on, ordered some car mats off ebay and put the feelers out for false floor ect and will then get a boot liner....

had its cambelt and pump and service done 7k miles ago which is ace. i'll do the servicing on and wondering which oils to choose.... i know the spec but not the exact weight?

i would love a manual but owning a mac makes it hard! any PDF downloads about?

also how do you remove the sun visor clip?

going to remove the radio(how? cdplayer) and look at the cup holder...

get a cable and scan the car (which cable do i need? same as a mk4 golf per chance?) then wipe it and see if it pops up again.

the starter i dont know, i hear there a mare to remove so may live with it for a while....

thats my plan of action! i'm happy working on cars ect so it doesnt phase me and looks a nice car to work on!

anyway, i've rambled on enough!!

cheers!

Andy

Hi Andy and welcome to the A2oc and A2ownership :)

Missing washer filler cap? It dose not have one it just folds away so nothing can get in anyway.

Don't know how to remove sun visor clip sorry.

Drinks holder you have to pull out the stereo. You need the audio removal keys. They just slip in either side of the stereo and the unit pulls out. You can get them quite cheaply from eBay.

Missing fuse board cover can be got from local dealer for not to much money or they are a couple of members breaking a2's at the moment.

Airbags would be my main concern first. As you said get it scanned. You need vcds a great bit of kit. Not cheap but pays fior it's self at dealer prices for a scan nowadays. Especlly if you are doing your own servicing.

Seatbelt not returning, spay and clean with a sylicone based cleaner and hopfully that will fix that.

Missing parcel shelf a common thing to be lost in the loft by the last owner. Reach a premium price £50-£90

False floor I am sure I saw someone on here selling one recently. Do a search.

The search function on this site is not great. Use google like this

False floor site:www.a2oc.net

Works much better and you get relivent results.

As for the starter motor don't worrie about it. A lot of members suffer from this and it dose not affect the running. For the hassel and expense it's easier to leave alone.

As for the corect oil not sure but others will point you in the right direction for that.

Cheers

David

cheers mate, very helpful!

top point on the washer cap, i just assumed it would have a blue lid lol

i guessed i would need a set of removal "keys" ebay will easy enough, hopefuly just sticky drink or something....

i've scanned an adjusted the lock settings on my mk4 (ex) golf but cant find the cable now! was just a cheapy but worked, where is the socket on A2's?

i've got some silcone spray i could try after cleaning with a lightly damp cloth maybe....

noticing that with the parcel shelf..... nice item to have though.

yeah had a reply on the floor, just waiting on another before i choose :)

Thanks very much for the help thats great!

all the best!

The socket on the A2 is below the stearing wheel on the right hand side. Not far from the fuses.

Sun visor clip is covered in this thread - http://www.a2oc.net/forum/showthread.php?15160-Broken-Sun-visor-clip&p=115018#post115018

Oil is 5w30 to VW 507.00 spec for TDis

Are you aware the false floor is supported on side rails which are non standard fit on all cars. In addition to the rails, different boot side trim panels are required. These have intricate cut-outs for the rails to clip through. In theory you could make the cut-outs in your own side trims but I think only one club member has managed to do this. - http://www.a2oc.net/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=3159&d=1241385855

Correct radio keys are covered here - http://www.a2oc.net/forum/showthrea...layer-and-climate-control&p=162286#post162286

Thanks for the info there guys, ill take a picture of the boot when I can to show you ways there... I've got two runners with wire loops on that look like where a fake floor mounts...?

Welcome. As Riverlad says, the starter elephant noise is common, my petrol did it for the 2yrs I had it and as it is a major job to remove I left it be with no probs. If its like mine it went when the weather warmed up, and also only did it on the first cold start of the day. You seem to be well on the way with your other queries. Best of luck Colin.

i think the derv ones are easier to remove or have i got that wrong? looking forward to using this car.... not been aloud near it since i made a 600mile journey to collect it lol its my girlfriends car, mine is about 33 yrs older ;)

Yep, you're missing the roller blind and the false floor, but you've got the rails, as suspected. You'll easily get these on eBay, I'd have thought.
