Hi, I've just bought a 2001 SE 1.4 petrol with 97k miles. It was a Cat C in 2012, there is clear overspray on the black plastic trim in the engine bay next to drivers wing.
Limited service history (Cambelt and Water. Pump 5 years ago, but 20k.miles) and a few issues.
Tricky cold start (maybe coil pack, not sure)
Possible head gasket issue, I'm yet to check. It also has the opensky roof and, yes, it's stuck.
Will probably have to pick some brains and trawl the resource on here in the coming weeks.
Cheers
Paul

Welcome, you are going to love it here... But be careful, owning an A2 quickly becomes an addiction... I came here to sell my car, that has now turned into my seeing the car as a project thanks to all the lovely people on here :)

Hi Paul,

First welcome.

First port of call for the difficult start is the notorious engine earth, causes no end of problems. Quick free test with a jump lead anywhere from good clean contact points on engine to body (or battery negative pole if long enough). Expect big improvement with starting if faulty earth. Lots of info on here if you can find it but the search is poor, it ignores2 and three letter acronyms eg. ABS, ECU,..... , better to use google search 'a2oc "whatever you are after"', ask if you are struggling.

Spiecialist OSS repair here..

Andy
