New owner !

Hi everyone . I purchased a 1.4 tdi A2 about 6 weeks ago and think I've already got the A2 obsession! I bought it to replace my motorbike which I used to commute daily to work on but unfortunately was written off in an accident in February. I've always been a VAG fan having owned numerous seat, skoda, audi and vw models . Currently I own a audi b7 rs4 which is my pride and joy. I'd been considering seat ibiza and skoda fabias as a cheap commuting car and then came across the A2 . Bought my 1.4tdi se for £1300. It has done 147k miles and was in need off a good clean which I've now done as I'm quite obsessive about cleaning my cars ( much to the wife's amusement!). So far I've given it a full service, new battery, new starter motor ( it had the annoying squeal which is apparently common ), new thermostat and replaced the timing belt , water pump and tensioner . Have a replacement headlight switch to replace the (commonly ) worn one. I've also replaced the drivers door check strap . Car is a decent spec with the sky roof (which works ), heated seats and oe sat nav. I've also refurbished the 16" wheels . Have done 1k miles in it already and thoroughly enjoy driving it . It's such a well designed , small car that still looks modern even now! Hopefully I'll have it for many miles and years to come!

Welcome, sounds a lovely car and good spec, any pics - we all love pics. :)

The RS4 sounds lovely too, there are quite a few of us with S Audis who also own these stunning little A2's.

Welcome aboard Neil, it looks very much like you’ll be in good company and amongst friends here. Plenty of us with a compulsion to have things just so, I’ll not embarrass myself with my car cleaning duration and regimes, but you get the idea.

There was a good social scene pre COVID-19 and it will return in due course. They represent a great opportunity for a day out with like-minded people to talk A2s and life in general. You’ll hopefully soon notice A2OC is more than just a car club, it is a family community built by its members.

There is bucket loads of information on here, sometimes a search on google with the words A2OC can yield better results than using the search function here.

Look forward to the pictures to come of your new purchase.

Here's a few pics. Refurbed the wheels myself . Usual kerb marks and centre caps were badly corroded. Cleaned out the arches etc whilst the wheels were off.

Lovely, what product did you use on the arch liners to get them so clean?

Washed with autoglym machine cleaner and then sprayed with carplan original black trim protectant. Did the front arches as well but got them a lot better after this pic was taken by going over them with tar remover. The silver is like new as a lot of tar was stuck to it.
