Ok guys, I have a new lease of life. My A2 has passed it's first MOT, it's running nicely and I have more or less decided that I am going to keep the car for atleast another year.

It's definitely time for another social.

Castle Coombe will go ahead with an A2OC presence on Saturday 18th September 2004 however it'd be great to slip in another social at some point this year.

I need your suggestions for a suitable venue. The requirements are very strict:

North of Birmingham but South of Manchester.

I believe this will still be accessible to many people including those from London like myself.

The venue requirements are:
- A large carpark/possible to reserve a parking area
- Preferably a venue where there is something to 'do' or fill an afternoon, either car related or not, or atleast somewhere nearby where we can sit down to eat or get away from rain
- Food/drinks should be available

Please let me know your thoughts...

My two suggestions would be the peak district, or more likely Chatsworth House. Or maybe York railway museum but that may present more of a problem with parking etc.

Chatsworth is a grand setting, picnic space en mass. Something not car related to go and see for bored partners who don't want to talk Audi.

Not done the drive myself, but up the M1 to Alfreton/Chesterfield turn off and it isn't that far from there. But then how is the M1 these days? Thats why I suggested it because of the M1 link but I don't know.

It is a devil to get to from the East-all A roads, most single carriage way and swarming with tractors through the fens. Arghhhh!

Too far for me, with my self imposed 2 hour drive while on chemo, BUT, as far as I can see I will be in my caravan (s** off Clarkson)for the Castle Coombe do, unless my Doc decides to see me that day, unfortunately I will be in the Volvo, 'cos the A2 won't pull large caravans, so still talk to me won't you.

Fine by me.

That works out at just under 200miles each way for me. If we were to travel at the same pace as last years M4 convoy, I could probably get there in about an hour and a half.

The locations fine by me - we've had the southern socials so now it's my turn to drive a distance.

Don't drink drive! Not only is it socially unaceptable, it also harms A2's.
Was a 1.4SE petrol. http://www.audi-a2.co.uk/uk14.htm http://www.audi-a2.co.uk/safety.htm
New A2 - Ebony Black, Red Leather, CC, Symphony + all the previous options we had.

I'm also happy with doing that sort of miles...
