No communication with cluster, won't start

I had a similar problem with one of our Lupo 3L's not so long ago. It would work fine and then not restart. I tried changing the ignition switch and checked all the relays (working on relays in a Lupo is a nightmare!). I even changed the ECU but it then happened again. It turned out to be a poor connection on one of the plugs of the ECU. Switch cleaner and pushing the retainer fully home finally sorted it.

What is connected with your bench setup? By red screen, do you mean the readings? The instrument shown is in a car, not on a bench. If you are just powering up the instruments on a bench with nothing else connected, how do you know what is meant to happen?

Maybe you should try adapting the instruments to the car using VCDS?

Which procedure you use will depend on the year of your car. You may need the SKU code.

Think something is being lost in translation. Can you post pictures of the instrument panel showing what your issues are. Perhaps then both sides can understand and not be frustrated going in circles.
As the 1.2 tdi was LHD and not officially imported into the UK there are only a few here. If we can't figure out what the issue is you may be better trying on one of the European forums where the car was more widely available.

What is connected with your bench setup?
It's all explained previous page(s), no red screen illuminate (as gurux below) no communication with cluster as title suggest (17, nor some other modules).
Something I forgot to mention yesterday is that the cluster didn't illuminate, only the warning lights was on when I tried to start it.

Switch cleaner and pushing the retainer fully home of ECU did not make a change, every bits was looking OK.

I remove the direct earth on Terminal 31 (sender earth) as it drain the battery (or was it the ODB-USB i left)

Photos? I'm still with nokia 3xxx... No worry guys, from the very beginning I suspected an issue in instrument cluster,
but expected to not be the first so was trying my luck here.
Thanks to everyone who try to solve my issue.:)

Conclusion ?

No communication with cluster, won't start

as title say!!!;)

The 1.2Tdi has one or two voltage stabilisers G532 and G570, depending on configuration. They are located under the driver's seat.

Also have you tried re-adaption of the ECU? 1.2Tdi's do strange things sometimes. One of our Lupo 3Ls once lost its clutch creep adaption for no apparent reason; a basic setting cured the problem. An unadapted ECU will start the engine but it will only run for a short time.

Hello,
So the Instrument Cluster was diagnose out-of-order. It's a 8Z0920930Q but can only find 8Z0920931D as the one in Nederland.
For me they looks perfectly the same but the guy, specialized in repairing Instrument Clusters, told me it wont work.

Is that true? Can someone explain me the differences?

Thanks!
I have 12V from voltage stabilisers G532 and G570...

So here is my last post on this issue, solved.
If leaving all night the battery charger plugged+new battery was enough for GuruX to reboot the Instrument Clusters, the guy specialized in repairing Instrument Clusters had to over-heat it using a heat gun -on the back side- in order to rejuvenate it (a trick when some component are on their last leg?).

He told me it can work one day or one year, so I found & bought the exact 8Z092093Q (same 50€+37, also NL) and he could do the copy to the new IC. I also bring him the ECU to cancel immotronic (I can now use the plastic key going to the beach!). He took total 100€ and I didn't had to bring him the car.

I reinstall everything, and it works first time - so nothing else on the car was bad! However as clearing all the errors, I have too many errors with module 08 Klima to even have connection. This is new, can this cause trouble? The troubles I had?

As well as I have now on comfort module: 01330 - Calculateur central pour système confort (J393) 37-00 - Défectueux
But comfort module seems to perfectly works (as the air-conditioning) so I just have to ignore it I guess.

Is the engine worked similar like this one?
