No heating into cabin

If you have a dehumidifier, use the water from that - almost as good as distilled water.

Thanks everyone ... all good solid advice offered by all.
Luckily we live in a soft water area, no problems with kettles or anything like that, I asked Patrick on the parts desk at Belfast Audi about pre-mix, he checked in the workshop and told me they just use straight tap water so just went with what he had in stock ... so taken aback by not having to do much on the A2 today that I decided to wash it and my Citigo as well ??

Today, I started the car and am pleased to say that there are still no leaks evident from the cooling system after replacing the thermostat housing and 'death pipe.'
The cabin heat is working fine now and giving plenty of output, both hot and cold.
Now a couple of questions that maybe some of you fine people can advise on.
1. The thermostat supplied with the housing is the wrong one and opens at 83° instead of 87° ... does anyone know if this is detrimental to the running of the car?
2. I'm working on deep cleaning the interior of the car, the seats are cloth ... can anyone recommend a good upholstery cleaner/ wet vac etc for getting unsightly 'water' stains out of the seats?

Thanks everyone, hopefully someone can help.

When I had fabric seats I successfully used Autoglym interior shampoo. It might require several passes but it always removed any water stain from my seats. Independently from whatever product you might use it is essential to apply the product, agitate with a soft brush and immediately collect/ remove the dirt with a clean, dump microfiber cloth.

Thank you ... I will give that a google .... cheers TYP 8Z

That Rug Doctor looks like an impressive piece of kit ... must convince Mrs B that we could do the rugs and carpets in the house as well ..???
if you have a wet vac apholstery cleaner (I have a VAX one, like an upright hoover with an apolstery attachment) then I use stardrops, 80P for a bottle and that will more than clean the seats and carpets
I use hot tap water in the tank with three measures of stardrops to 3 litres of hot tap water
It does foam a bit so you need to empty the waist tank a few times, but it lifts the dirt and removes water marks a treat and leaves a nice smell
When I've finished cleaning I fill the tank with plain hot tap water and run over the seats and carpet again, a bit like a washing machine doing a rinse cycle

Cheers,
Paul

Thank you Paul ... that sounds like a good option as well ... I have a Kirby cleaner from decades ago mounted under my workbench in the garage, it has a much more powerful motor than a Dyson and pretty sure there is some sort of attachment for wet vaccing .... another project looming ???

Several on here swear by the Rug Doctor Portable cleaner
These Rug Doctor Portables must be in demand .... B&Q had them for £100 but no stock available anywhere ... none of the big retailers seem to have them in stock, except Amazon and they have upped the price to over £200 ??? time to dig out the kirby bits and see if they still work, they haven't seen daylight for twenty five years and three house moves.
