No Lights

Hi there, I dont seem to have any lights at all, no sidelights, rear lights or headlights! Any one any ideas? Simon.

Only a guess here but if your brake lights still work and it’s only the lights controlled by the light switch which are not working, and the fuses are ok it must be a failed light switch. Not heard of a light switch fail before. It’s worth checking the connect is still good behind the switch itself. It’s a weird one this and hopefully someone like @timmus will be able to diagnose over PM for you.

Good luck.

Kind regards,

Tom

So exactly what IS working. Indicators, hazards, front fogs, rear fog, reversing lights, number plate lights, main beam, dash illumination, switch illumination, is the battery completely flat? Are all other electrics working correctly, locking, windows, blower, radio, wipers, does the engine run?

Hi there, Side lights. os and ns, headlights ns and os both main beam and dip? everything else is fine, locking windows radio heater etc? very strange

If you indicate left or right leave the switch like that and take the ignition key out are the corresponding parking lights working? Have you had any work done on the car, is the battery ok? Is the big plug connected to the back of the light switch?

Hi there, I am not with the car at the moment, will check at the weekend and get back, Thank you. Simon.

Do you have front fog lights?...if so, are they working.
What about your rear fog light?

Have you got the original headlight switch, or is it one of the new one's with coming home lights?

Cheers
Jeff

Either the plug is off the back of the switch, the battery is dead or the switch is not earthed - too many separate power sources for the lights for all to be out.

Hi there, just had a quick look, Plug is on the back of switch, when you turn lights on dash lights up and light symbol comes on but no lights? simon.

Hello @Farmer,

Could we please have a clearly presented, definitive list of which exterior lights work, and which ones do not work. This would really help to narrow down the problem.

Exterior lights include indicators left & right, hazard lights, side lights, headlights, full-beam, rear lights, reversing lights, brake lights and rear fog light.

Cheers,

Tom

Hi there, am afraid i am working away and can't get to look at the car for a week, will report back later. thanks

it's not unheard of for the main switch to fail. The precise description of what doesn't work is important to identify the issue.
