Well, I've had my A2 for over a month, and I'm looking forward to next friday when its going in to dealer to have a few niggles ironed out!

The most anoying is the drivers seatv - when you bring the clutch out, it squeks, becomes very anoying.

Next is the rattle in the back - I think coming one of the rear seats - I think it rattles on its locking plate - only when the road surface is poor.

I also noticed a huge cap inbetween the boot door and the trim on the inside of the boot - I noticed it when the boot was open and I looked at what would be the underside, and I could see a gap and see the fixings within the panel.

Also thing with service flap opening (or not) when it wants.

I faxed my dealer about wiper blade, but havent heard anything yet.

It will also be good to try another A2 (hopefully I'll get one as a courtesy car-a TT would be even better but I dont think very realistic!) so I can compare the difference.

Apart from that all seems well, just another question- how do you know when the traction controls working, is it right that you can still get the front wheels to spin a bit (this happened on wet road when turning right by accident) I'm not sure if I intervened too early by coming off the accelarator so that traction didn't have enough time to cut in?

I would love to test it out on a wet test track, first without tract control, then with, and see the difference.

Oh, does anyone know if it is possible to get rid of marks on alloy wheels? I managed to scrape the front nearside on a big kerb and got a couple of marks on one of the arms. OOps!

let me know how you get on at the garage. I also have a rattle coming from the back, which I have narrowed it down to be the seats or the suspension, as you say its only on poor road surfaces that you hear it and lets face it most road surfaces in the uk are abbismal.

Kslevi,

I had a very annoying squeaky clutch. The dealer cured it for a few hours only, but it then returned again. It did however finally disappear after a new clutch and gearbox were fitted.

The rattling you are hearing in the back is common on almost all A2's my one does it 2001 model and my mums one does it 2002 model, we have narrowed it down to the seatbelts, the drum holding the coil of seatbelt is being hit by the coil of seatbelt inside of it, its minor and shoulldnt really matter. my A2 problems are terrible, right headlight dont work, clonking noise whenever gonig over speed humps, pot holes or mounting the paverment, gears feel sticky (second and third, but recently 1st too), wing mirrors dont always adjust electronically (gets jammed i think), left rear passenger door pannel loose, drivers door panel loose. Those are the only things iI have noticed so far [V]

FACtOR-I though I was having a bad time!. I been through a lot of different problems, and my replacement A2 is suffering some of the same.

On the noise front, I have (and still have after the dealer supposedly fixed them) a creaking driver seat, a chriping rear seat, and those clonks from the back.

I've put the seatbelt buckles in there holders, so it isn't them. I've put foam on the boot floor supports which helped some of the bumps, but I still have one which is really annoying me now. I will soon be taking bits of the rear out (shelf, boot floor, tools) to see if it's any of them, and if it's not.......

The clonking described on bad road surfaces / speed humps could well be the same suspension issues as I have had. I too have door panel rattles and these have never been properly resolved. I was staggered when I drove an A3 and A4 as to the complete lack of rattles and generally much more "solid" feel to the car. Even a new A2 was much better. I think the stiff suspension gradually takes its toll on the lightweight nature of the car. I am still terribly torn as to whether I still love it or not, but could not think of anything that is quite as practical, yet so highly desirable.

By the way does anyone want a J reg Nova? My wife has not learnt to drive yet and the brakes have seized on whilst It has been sat on the drive!!

You should of asked the dealer to try an new car becuase i noticed a lot of the faults on the courtesy car they gave me while mine was being prepared for delevery (sticky gears), this is due to it being a coutesy car and as such is thrashed about (excessive revving through gear and the such by the drivers of the courtesy car) so couldnt give an accurate benchmark for fault testing, you need a new untouched car or nearly new to check the faults properly. As for the clonking noise I'm not sure what could be the problem with yours try removing the seats and the boot space saver thingy plus the screen on the back and open the cup holders and put something in them then test for the noise again.

This squeeking clutch i keep hearing about, what is it? I notice my A2 stalls alot but i'm putting that down to my driving but i have read it happens alot to other on this forum, is this related to this squeeking problem?

Sorry FACtOR, I think you must have slightly misunderstood me. The clonking has been sorted by replacing various bits of the suspension - see previous topic, although the rattles, I'll agree, a truly new car would like-as-not be perfect!

Bye:)

The spinning of the front wheels is normal. The wheels are allowed to spin a bit and are then regulated by the traction control.
When TC is working there's an amber/orange/yellowish indicator that signals.

You can also notice the difference by turning TC off...
